Dolores Lillian Moore (née Nutter), age 91, was welcomed into the arms of her heavenly Father on October 19, 2026. She was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, in 1935 to Joseph and Lillian Nutter. As the daughter of English immigrants, she carried a lifelong love of a good cup of hot tea—and someone to share it with.
Dolores moved to Southern California, where at age 17 she met her beloved Glenn. Their young romance blossomed even during Glenn’s long-distance service in the Air Force. The large box of love letters they exchanged became a cherished reminder of the love, connection, and sweetness that began in their youth and remained throughout their 63 years of marriage.
Dolores and Glenn married in 1955, and soon after, she began a 20-year career as a secretary with AT&T. She found satisfaction in her work and many coworkers became dear friends.
Dolores delighted in planning simple pleasures, from trips to Mission Bay and the fair to annual road trips exploring America’s historic sites and natural wonders. These family adventures remain meaningful highlights of childhood for her children.
While raising her family, Dolores also devoted herself to her community through church service and Camp Fire Girls. Alongside her close friend Jeanine, she led the troop “The Blue Bird Flowers” in activities and service projects including teaching them to knit booties for nursing home residents and collecting canned goods for the local food pantry. Many of the girls formed lifelong friendships.
As their children grew and the nest emptied, Dolores and Glenn embraced new adventures together, including square dancing and travel. The arrival of their grandchildren brought another special chapter of family joys as they split their time with grandson, Zach, in California, and their four grandchildren in South Carolina.
Though she faced significant health challenges in her final years, Dolores met them with resilience and determination. Her life spanned many years, filled with family, friendships, service, and the enduring love she shared with Glenn. Her vibrant and kind spirit will remain in our hearts.
She is survived by her children, Bryan (Sallie) Moore of Carlsbad, California, and Linda (David) Dara of Greenville, South Carolina; five grandchildren, Zachary Moore, Daniel Dara, Hannah Dara, Amanda (Micah) Tan, and Benjamin Dara; and her great-grandchildren, Adelyn and Theo, who brought extra joy to her last two years. She was predeceased by her husband, Glenn, and their son, David Moore.
The family wishes to extend heartfelt thanks to the compassionate caregivers at Providence Care, V Care Hospice, and The Pines of Greenville, her home for eight years, as well as to those who provided personal care and support along the way.
Dolores will be laid to rest on November 21 at Pacific View Memorial Park in Corona del Mar, California. With a Private Graveside for Family only.
