During her time at the bank she worked her way up to Vice President of Operations in Cerritos. While working at the Bank she enjoyed planning and assisting in bank functions such as the annual Easter egg hunt for the children and grandchildren of bank employees. She headed the annual summer bank picnic which was enjoyed by everyone including her own family. Doris was always giving of her time and shared her love with everyone she met.

In her retirement years, she was an active member and volunteer of the Downey Assistance League. She could often be found working in the thrift store and planning the annual fashion show brunch.

After retirement, Doris and Vern moved to Palm Springs, so she could enjoy her beautiful view of the mountains and palm trees while relaxing in her pool.

While living in Palm Springs, She was an active member of Our Savior Lutheran Church. She opened her home to more than 20 people for a weekly bible study. She found so much joy in serving others and planning home cooked meals for her bible study group. She felt this was her ministry, and always made extra food so she could send leftovers home with everyone in the group.

Doris loved to bake and cook. She was an amazing cook who always made cookies and brownies for her grandchildren, family and friends. Everyone’s birthday was celebrated together by Doris making their favorite food and cake.

Doris enjoyed her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. They always wanted to visit her at camp grandma. Vern and Doris often traveled to see their family and grandchildren in Tennessee and Mississippi.

Doris loved to serve others and had a strong Christian faith that she shared with everyone. She is now rejoicing in the loving arms of her savior and sharing her love of baking with all of heaven.
