Today my heart sank when my friend, Raj, called to tell me of his dad’s passing. I met Dr. Rao at some medical conferences and had the pleasure of working with him over the past few years. No matter where we were, he always treated me like family. It wasn’t about work, he really cared about me and always asked how my family was doing. Until we meet again, keep a watchful eye on us Dr. Rao.

I an truly blessed for the time I spent with Dr. Rao. Working for him gave me a behind the scenes view of how he lived his life for others. Always conjuring up reasons to meet and spend time with people. I never understood how this amazing man, 40+years my senior, could have so much more energy than me to juggle so many hats and to always be ahead of the game. He made balancing family life, friends, business, events and everything else seem tangible. He always encouraged and inspired those around him to reach for the stars and would even set goals for them.
He made everyone feel important. I once helped him with a party where he mentioned everyone in attendance in his speech. He shared his gratitude for each and every person. He was always appreciative no matter the role you played in his life.
He had a unique way of communicating without words and understood a situation better than most. Something I’ve never encountered with anyone else. It was truly a gift; I am amazed and forever grateful.

I have a fond memory of meeting CK in 1982. In earlier months. our relationship had begun as a fellow community physician in West Covina. Soon after that we became good friend.
We continued our great friendship till end. Just before his illness we chat for a long time on phone more than 45 min. We were both competitor as we were running our own medical group. In spite of that we always kept very cordial and friendly relationships .
Who knows what is going to happen next? To Bharati’s and my surprise, we heard his illness and untimely demise. We were deeply saddened. We are all helpless and have to follow where destiny takes us.
Community lost a good leader. compassionate physician, family lost a loving and caring husband and father and we lost a good friend.
Sunita. Sheila and Raj. May god give you enough courage and strength to bear this sad and sorrowful event.
May God give him eternal peace and solace.
He will stay in our heart till our end!

Dearest Raj, Sheila and Sunitha Bhabhiji,
More than 15 years ago, our first meeting with the Rao family took place in Houston, Texas during the Hope Medical Institute (HMI) convention. The memory of that meeting is still so vivid in our minds like it happened not so long ago.
Since then, both our families became very close to each other and along the way Dr. C. K. Rao and I had many pleasant lengthy phone conversations. Soon after, we both discovered that many areas of our lives, issues, thoughts and beliefs were almost identical whether it was political, social, spiritual or views on life and world issues. Over time, our friendship and bond grew very strong where both our families had the opportunity on several occasions to visit each others homes in California and Virginia. I must say with appreciation, Dr. Rao and his family, no matter how busy, he unfailingly attended several of our family’s gatherings.
I also had the opportunity to attend his daughter Sheila’s wedding where during his speech he introduced me to his friends where I got a chance to meet many parents of our HMI students.
His departure from our lives is devastating and a crushing blow for all of us. We have lost words where we are now speechless. It has left a deep wound in our hearts and a big vacuum with sear emptiness in our lives.
His very pleasant and charming personality and forever-shining smile was a reminder to all of us that he was not just an ordinary man. He was an extraordinary gentleman, with a heart full of compassion and burning desire for the caring, comforting and healing of his patients, friends and colleagues. He was among those few who had distinctive virtues, which makes him very special and unique in the ocean of humanity.
Our prayers to God Almighty to grant the departed soul heavenly eternal peace and comfort in the kingdom of our Creator and to render the healing of our broken and wounded hearts.

Dear Rao Family,
We are incredibly saddened by the loss of Dr Rao. I often told Dr Rao, how I remembered his office near my hometown of La Puente. Seeing his practice as a teenager partly inspired my own journey into medicine.
Dr Rao was an accomplished man who inspired many to help others and pursue their dreams no matter how many obstacles where in the way. His impact touches thousands of patients everyday. He was a great man. He will be missed.
My sincere gratitude to my friend and Mentor.

Eileen, Raj, Sheila & Family,
I’m truly heart broken to hear of Dr. Rao’s passing. I’m sending love and prayers to your family during this difficult time.
I’m honored to have known him and have been apart of his work family. He always took the time to mentor and teach me no matter how busy he was. He pushed me to continuously improve and I will carry that trait with me everywhere I go.
With heartfelt sympathy,
