Born in a small island in the Philippines on June 8, 1940, Edna Santos began her journey through life. Edna was the 8th child born with 9 other siblings, to Alfonso Felipe and Pilar Tolentino. It was from here that Edna learned the fruits of hard labor, in life. She spent her early years attending school and selling fruits and vegetables, to help earn money for the family. Dedication and determination were her key traits, at a very young age.

These traits carried her through the years of her young adulthood into her married life, motherhood, and career. Edna married in 1963 to Romeo Santos and became a mother of (3) children, Edwina, Dean, and Carol. Her passion and empathy to serve people, launched her a career as a Travel Agent in the Philippines for a number of years. Divorced in 1977, Edna, with her children, unexpectedly emigrated to United States and became a single mother to (3) teenagers, to start a new beginning.

Edna exemplified strength, courage, and resilience, during these difficult times. All that mattered to her is to ensure her children's upbringing, that they would have stability, security, comfort, and safety. Her pledge of deep love and loyalty to her children became her anchor. Unsure of her future as a single mother, her only hope was her faith and trust in God. Her utmost devotion was her prayer life and attending Mass every Sunday. These made all the difference in the world, in assurance that she and her children, will never be alone, trusting in God's promises of His love.

As her children started their own families, Edna became a grandmother to (10) grandchildren and (2) great grandsons. God's continued blessings were evident in Edna's life. She was driven and was always inspired. Powered with a positive and confident attitude, opened her an opportunity to work for a medical supply company. Edna's commitment and commendable work ethics, as a Quality Control Assurance Technician, gave her the longevity of 32 years of service, with the company. Accolades of perfect attendance on numerous times, showed her love and diligence for her profession. Her 32 years of service with the company was one of her proudest accomplishments.

Retiring at the age of 70, in October 2010, was a sad moment in Edna's life. Feeling daunting, that she would lose her sense of purpose, Edna decided to keep busy by doing volunteer and charity work for the Senior Centers. She was a servant leader, always willing to support the greater good, even if it means temporarily sacrificing herself. Edna's constant care, kindness and generosity towards others were magical moments, that will always remain and unforgettable in everyone's hearts. Spending time with her children, grandchildren, great grandson, immediate and extended family, and friends were her greatest joy in life.

Edna would always say, “If I had enough money to build a hotel, I would have my entire family live in it, so we can all be together, filling the place with lots of fun, happiness, and laughter.” Her presence and vibrant personality will be missed greatly by many. Our lives have been enriched by having shared her love. Edna's love leaves an indelible imprint in our memories for always.

“Death is the last chapter in time, but the first chapter in eternity.” Rest in Peace, Edna ... With All of Our Love.
