

Eleanor Coburn, born Eleanor Jean Bulles, a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend passed away peacefully on January 8, 2025, in Newport Beach, CA at the age of 83. Eleanor’s journey through life came to a close after a life well-lived and deeply cherished by those who knew her.
Born on July 23, 1941, in Rome, NY, Eleanor grew up in rural upstate New York with a profound sense of compassion and resilience and went on to get her bachelor’s degree from Potsdam Teachers College. She dedicated her life to nurturing her family and inspiring everyone around her with her warmth, and unwavering strength.
Eleanor married Lawrence Edward Coburn on August 15, 1964, and together they built a loving home filled with laughter, joy, and cherished memories. She was a devoted mother to Loren Edward Coburn and Corrine Grace Coburn and took immense pride in her grandchildren, Igor, Caitlyn, Matthew, Sophia, and Anastasia whom she adored.
Eleanor’s career as a teacher and educator showcased her remarkable talents and dedication. She taught mostly early childhood and elementary. She taught for schools in Rochester, NY, DOD Schools in Germany, and Head Start programs in and around the State College, PA area. In 1983, she earned her Master of Education from Penn State University and owned her own College Preparation Testing Center franchise. Beyond her professional accomplishments, she was an active member of her community, volunteering her time and energy to causes close to her heart. She opened her home every summer, hosting under privileged children from New York City to a program called the Fresh Air Program. Remaining friends with those children up to 50 years later.
Eleanor was an avid reader and amateur historian who delighted in sharing her knowledge with anyone willing to listen. Eleanor’s generous spirit and infectious smile left an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Eleanor is survived by her son Loren, daughter Corrine, her grandchildren and a great grandchild, Vadim. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence Edward Coburn, who passed on May 28, 2020.
Eleanor and Lawrence will be interred together in the Wilson Cemetery in Barre, VT, at a future date to be determined. A mutual celebration of their lives will be held at that time.
Eleanor Coburn will forever be remembered for her boundless love, unyielding strength, and the lasting impact she had on all who knew her. Her memory will live on in the hearts of her family and friends, and her spirit will continue to inspire all those who were fortunate enough to call her their friend.
