Dear Eric,

Thank you for being such a special part of our lives. We still smile when we remember the time HJ tried to measure your brainwaves! Moments like that remind us of the joy, laughter, and warmth you brought into every gathering.

Although you are no longer with us, those precious memories will stay with us . You will always have a special place in our hearts for the rest of our lives! Miss you!

Salute to a truly good-hearted man who knew the true meaning of life and truly lived it. Thank you for inspiring everyone around you and being such an incredible friend.

聽到消息的時候我們全家正在台灣渡假，那時候我們都以為是有人開了一個很大又不好笑的玩笑，直到我們的不願接受，逐漸被事實所淹沒。

誰能夠想像得到，今年五月那次我們的聯合慶生，居然成為了你的最後一個生日 …. 從今以後，我的身邊少了一個人聊保時捷，聊 GTI mk7 mk7.5 mk8 ，聊腳踏車，聊 IT 。

謝謝你常常找機會開導我們家兒子，對他視如己出，謝謝你在數次的北加 road trip 中為大家規劃景點，帶著我們走住戶專用通道進入 17 Miles，在相識的這十五個年頭，我們共同經歷並體驗了精彩的人生。

往後少了你的趴踢聚會，一切都不會再一樣，但你的博學多聞，熱心，幽默，爽朗，開懷的笑聲，與你的拿手菜麻婆豆腐，永遠都會深刻地留在我們的心中。我們會一直陪伴著 Sharon 與兩個兒子長大，請你放心在天上過著永遠的 57 歲 ！

I wanted to share this photo and the story behind it.

It was a gesture of support that you, Joaquin, and Renaldo made in the form of a surprise lunch.

I had been discharged from the hospital that week after a seven day stay. With the resurging sights and sounds of the world outside the hospital, I was glad to have this get-together to adjust. It was a new chapter in my life, and you helped turn the page so that I could discover the rest of my story.

Through this occasion and many others during my formative years, I will remember your steadfast compassion.

清晨五點，還在睡夢中的我們接到這個消息，真的太震驚了……第一時間根本不敢相信，甚至懷疑這是不是一場玩笑？直到今天，心裡依然不願去面對這個事實。Stan 直說前一天下午才剛跟你傳簡訊，還遺憾著這次沒能跟你一起參加車聚，期盼著下一次再一起奔馳在山林小路間，怎知道……再也沒有下次了。

每次聚會只要看到你出席，心裡總是特別踏實。因為你的笑容、幽默與熱心，總是能帶來滿滿的快樂。尤其你對阿紀的好，在爸爸圈裡是公認的 No.1，連我家女兒都豎起大拇指說讚！

真的很感謝你過去總是帶著 Stan 一起走跳。看著你們兩個愛車的大男孩，總是用心思索著該送對方什麼車用配件，那種單純又美好的情誼，實在彌足珍貴。

天下無不散的筵席，你已精彩地完成了這趟人生旅程。如今盛宴落幕，願你一路好走，在另一個世界自由自在、無牽無掛。

I still remember the last time I saw Uncle Eric at the pool, celebrating all the May birthdays together. I have so many core memories with him, from our family gatherings, trip to Japan and Vegas, to all our fun conversations and the great advice he always gave us kids. 

        It’s so heartbreaking and difficult to process that he’s really gone. He was truly such a special person, and I feel so lucky to have known him.

We were deeply saddened to hear of Eric’s sudden passing. There are no words that can truly express how sorry we are for your loss.

Although we knew each other through our families over the past ten+ years, we will always remember Eric as a kind, warm, and genuine person. His passing at such a young age is heartbreaking, and our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family during this incredibly difficult time.

May you find comfort in the love of your family, the support of your friends, and the many wonderful memories you shared with Eric. He will be greatly missed and fondly remembered.

Dear Uncle Eric,
I struggle to find the words to say because this is the first time I've experienced such a heartbreaking loss. It was so sudden and it felt as if it were just yesterday that you were at my house playing Gran Turismo 7. 
It's sad to think that you had to pass away so early. You were always one of the funniest uncles and perhaps the coolest with your Porsche. I always found it easy to talk to you and love when you always bring your humor to parties. 
I can't believe I'll never be able to see you again. I didn't even get a chance to say goodbye. But for now... farewell, Uncle Eric. I'm happy I got to meet you and I'll always remember you in my heart.

Dear Eric,

Just a few hours before everything changed, on June 28, Sharon and I were having lunch and talking about getting together with you again soon for another meal. I never imagined that later that evening I would receive the heartbreaking news that you had left us.

The shock, disbelief, sadness, and pain were beyond words. Even now, it is difficult to accept that you won’t be with us at our next gathering.

As I look back on all the time we shared—the gatherings, outdoor hikes, afternoon bike rides, road trips, and vacations—I can’t help but smile. Your humor, warmth, and easygoing nature always made everyone feel comfortable and welcome. I truly treasured every moment we spent together and every special occasion we celebrated. Those memories will remain in my heart forever.

Thank you for being such a kind, wonderful, and supportive friend. I am truly thankful and honored to known you in my life. 

Until we meet again, rest in peace, my dear friend. You will always be loved, deeply missed, and forever in my heart.

I am completely shocked and saddened that Eric is gone. He was a joy to work with and I always sought him out when I was at DES. His sense of humor as always ready to come out. It's a tragic loss to all of his coworkers and friends. I will miss you forever, my friend.

When I heard that you weren't feeling well, I thought you were simply dehydrated from the heat that afternoon. I sent you a text, expecting you to reply within a minute, just as you always did. But that reply never came. Instead, I was completely shocked by the news, which left me speechless and in disbelief.

In that moment, countless memories of the joy you brought into our lives came rushing back—the bike rides, the hikes, the outings, the pickleball games, and the road trips. Those moments of laughter and happiness will always stay with me.

During one of the lowest points in my life, you stood by me with tremendous support. You looked for opportunities for me, had recommendation letters ready before I even saw the job openings, prepared me for interviews, and reminded me to step away from the stress by inviting me to explore new trails with you. Because of your inspiration and encouragement, I had the strength and motivation to keep moving forward.

I believe you will continue spreading joy wherever you are now. Thank you for your friendship, your caring heart, and the happy moments you brought to so many people. You will always be remembered, deeply missed, and will forever hold a special place in my heart.

Dear uncle Eric,

As I look back at all the sleepovers with Renaldo and hangouts we had at your home, I remember how kind and welcoming you were to me since I was a child and now as an adult. I’m grateful for all the chats we had about the military, tennis, and teasing Renaldo. I wouldn’t have thought racing Cayman’s on GT7 together would be our last interaction, but I’m glad we got the chance. Thank you for always lighting up every room you’re in with your humor and kindness. Your journey to faith was truly inspiring. May you now rest in the presence of the Lord.

那天是主日。
聚會結束後，由我帶領小組禱告會。中午散會，我們各自回家，誰也沒想到，那竟是我們在人世最後一次相聚。
下午，我去打球。返家的路上，一則簡短的訊息傳來：「你走了。」
就這樣走了。
年僅五十七歲，生命正值盛年，卻戛然而止，留下你深愛的妻子和兩個尚需陪伴的孩子。那一刻，我的心在淌血，雙手不停顫抖，怎麼也無法接受這樣的消息。

噩耗傳開後，許多人都滿心不捨，也不禁發出同樣的疑問：「Eric 才信主不久，為什麼偏偏是現在？」「這麼有愛心、有才華的弟兄，還能為神的國做那麼多事，為什麼上帝這麼早就把他接走？」
我沒有答案。
但我相信，總有一天，主會親自告訴我。

過去兩年半，我們曾一同前往墨西哥短宣，一起見證你的受洗；一起禱告、彼此扶持。雖然認識的時間不算長，但那一幕幕溫暖的聚會、一陣陣爽朗的笑聲，還有你那帶著濃濃四川腔、格外有韻味的國語，如今都成了再也回不去的光影。
如今，我只能把不捨化作記念，把眼淚化作禱告。

每當想起團契裡那些歡笑的時光，就再次提醒自己：基督的愛永不止息，死亡不能將它奪去，也不能將我們分開。

你的信仰是那樣單純，對神充滿渴慕，像孩子一般純真；又像一張潔白無瑕的絹紙，安靜地等候大師落筆。當神的墨彩輕輕揮灑，墨色緩緩浸潤、層層渲染，終究成了一幅屬於祂自己的美麗畫作。

身為張大千先生的後輩，我想，再沒有比這幅畫更適合形容你的一生了。

我也想起兒童主日學時，我們總是朗朗上口地唱著那首詩歌：

「有主在我船上，我就不怕風浪；不怕風浪，不怕風浪，直到安抵天家……」

搖啊，搖回家；搖啊，搖回家。

是的，我親愛的弟兄，你已經安然搖回家了，我們必定再相見。

Eric在還未信主時就開始和老婆孩子參加短宣,受洗後更是拓展了短宣的地界,遠到非洲.除了離開家門的宣教,其實他的生命見證也在不知不覺中影響著我們這群老老小小的基督徒.正如6/28我和震賢(Jasper)從醫院回家時他跟我說的" Uncle Eric雖然受洗僅2年,但他所做的比我們這些做了一輩子基督徒做的還要多!”
看著Eric躺在急診室裡已經沒有呼吸心跳的樣子,實在很不捨.摸著他的頭心裡默默地說”天家再見!”

Hello everyone. My name is Mauricio R. I worked with Eric for over 20 years. Throughout those years, due to the nature of our roles, we worked side by side and served as each other’s backup. We were always in sync, fully aware of what the other was doing and how we approached our daily tasks. We became close confidants, constantly advising and supporting one another.

There are so many good things to say about Eric. We enjoyed watching him ride his bicycle into the office and park it right next to his desk; I even have a picture of him doing so, though it might not be appropriate to post. Whenever we needed to buy a new car, he was our resident expert. Eric also frequently spoke to me with great pride about his family’s accomplishments.
When I received the phone call about his passing, a thousand things flashed through my mind. One was that he once told me how he wished he had known his mom, who passed away when he was a baby; I take comfort in knowing he is with her and his father now.
 
Eric, we didn’t have the chance to say goodbye, but thank you for all the years we shared and all the silly things we laughed about. I didn’t get to see your new car, but I am sure it is a nice one. For the rest of my life, you will continue to cross my mind until the day we meet again. Enjoy the heavens in God’s kingdom, my friend.

Knotts Berry Farm看煙火 - 彷彿不久之前的事，還可以聽得見你的笑聲。

親愛的Eric，

我們除了約好的露營和生日趴，曾在海邊巧遇過，也在Knotts Berry Farm一起看煙火的時候不期而遇。不常見面，但是記憶中的每一次見面，你都用你的幽默陪我們度過歡樂的時光。

所以，很難想像你已經離開這個紛紛擾擾的世界了。

我到現在都還記得跟你聊過的遊戲，你給我的Blizzard credit我都還沒有用完...

Even now, it still feels unreal that you have gone home to be with the Lord.  Yet we thank God that He has given us the hope of eternity.  Knowing that we will one day meet again is our greatest comfort.

Although we did not know you for very long, and even though you had been a Christian for the shortest time amongst us, your hunger for God, your devotion to your family, your passion for life, your care for the brothers and sisters in Christ, and your selfless service in the church and our small group has become an inspiration for us to follow.

六月二十八日下午三點多我們還在聊Sharon 喜歡的911，聊992.2的儀表從類比改成數位的優缺點。在旅行的我們於東岸清晨就收到祢離開的噩耗，一度讓我無法呼吸，腦袋一片空白。”是真的嗎？”心裡一直反覆問自己，我不敢也不肯相信。

從其他朋友那知道整個事發經過，一切都發生的太快了。

我們再也無法在這個世界一起聚餐喝咖啡聊車聊人生了。沒關係，總有一日我們會再次相聚，或許這樣的自言自語與自我安慰可以稍微彌補心缺了一塊的遺憾與難過。

我們聊過的車、人生、美國、日本、非洲，祢還說要把祢失效20多年的台灣護照找出來重新辦理後在台灣退休，這些仿若昨日的畫面都在腦海中一一呈現。

謝謝祢帶我體驗與分享祢的車，我真的很喜歡看到祢開著跑車手握著排檔桿腳踩離合器時那大男孩模樣的快樂表情。

謝謝祢怕我在美國時無聊，體貼地排時間帶我去Cars and Cafe與PCA參加聚會。

謝謝祢細心地挑選禮物送我，每次我都傷腦筋要回送祢特殊並具紀念性的禮物。

謝謝祢與Sharon陪伴我們一起去東京、富士山、Las Vegas, 有祢與Sharon的同行，祢的笑聲與笑容每趟旅行的回憶都是特別的回憶。

Eric, Sharon and Renaldo you all were such a blessing on the Uganda team and so many in the village were waiting for your return. Naluko sends their condolences and prayers. We know we will see you again in Heaven!

This March, Eric and his wife joined me for lunch in Taipei. We shared updates about our lives and talked about our health and ways to stay well.

I never imagined that it would be the last time we would see each other. My heart is deeply saddened, and I will always cherish that time together.

To me, Eric was a kind, genuine, humorous, and cheerful man with a youthful spirit. I truly believe that although he has temporarily left us, he is now with the Lord, living joyfully in our heavenly home.

May God watch over and care for his wife and children, granting them strength, peace, and comfort during this difficult time.

I look forward to the day when we will meet again in our heavenly home.

I worked with Eric for a number of years. His sense of whimsy, undeniable and unique sense of humor, and wide breadth of knowledge about various subjects was a highlight of my experience. Even after I left the state, he periodically reached out and kept the sense of connection alive. Heartfelt condolences go out to his family during this time of immense loss. He will truly be missed.

Looking back over the past,  Eric has influenced my life in so many wonderful ways.  Very early,  he taught me how to adventurous as we launched his boat into the Pacific Ocean.  He showed my generosity when buying me my first telescope.  And gave me a love for cooking when he taught me to make chicken curry.  
     You brought out the best in me my friend and You will be greatly missed.

We knew each other 45 years, life was never boring we you were around. I hope you are peace and may God take you into his kingdom and you both can watch over Sharon and you and the boys
