Born May 2, 1928, Died October 13, 2019.
Ernest was the first born of ten children to Charles and Louise Follis. He grew up in Norwalk, California.
He is survived by two brothers, Chuck and Richard; three sisters, Ruth Ellene, and Mary Anne. He is preceded in death by two sisters, Dorothy and Carol, and two brothers, Bobby and Clyde.
He is also survived by two sons, Jim and Ken, from his first wife. His son Jim and wife Donna, their children, Nathan and Shannon; three great-grandchildren, Malachi, Makala, and Mackena. Ken and wife Jody; her three children; Jeff, Troy and Mona Rena. And three great grandchildren; Wade, Natalie and Gavin.
Ernest was always a hard worker and started his own wood molding manufacturing business in the early 1960’s. He liked restoring cars and even a couple of airplanes which he flew. He enjoyed golf, service clubs such as Cosmopolitan when in Costa Mesa. He was an organizing director of a bank, but most of all he loved cars and all related to collecting, restoring and showing cars, at Pierce Arrow meets and even at Pebble Beach where he won awards. He was active in the Pierce Arrow Society, Foundation and Museum. His car hobby included the constant search for and the fabrication of parts. The search was wherever he was and that meant often traveling across the country to swap meets in search of bargains which he could not pass up.
There will be a graveside service at Pacific View Memorial Park on Tuesday, October 29th, 2019 at 11:00 A.M. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Hope Church, 1755 Thibodo Road, Vista, on November 5th at 11:00 A.M, with a reception to follow at his home.
He will be greatly missed by family and friends.
