Fay Rose Murray

October 25, 1921 – April 15, 2026
Obituary of Fay Rose Murray
IN THE CARE OF

Pacific View Mortuary & Memorial Park

It is with sadness and reflection that we announce the passing of Fay R. Murray, who died on April 15, 2026, at the age of 104.

Fay was born on October 25, 1921, on the Lower East Side of Manhattan, New York, alongside her surviving brother, Peter Castellano, Sr. She was the daughter of Gaetana Castellano (née Grippo) and Pietro Castellano, whose family roots trace back to Avellino, Italy. Through her parents, Fay carried forward a proud Italian heritage grounded in family, resilience, and tradition.

Fay married Harold “Mike” Murray, and together they built a life centered on family, shared experiences, and a love of exploration. They raised their sons, Kenneth and Douglas, in Santa Monica and Corona del Mar, California, creating a home defined by warmth, loyalty, and enduring family values.

Fay had a lifelong passion for travel, especially cruising the world with her husband Mike. She embraced the opportunity to experience new cultures and history firsthand, with a particular love for visiting ancient historical sites and supporting the arts along the way.

She was also a devoted and enthusiastic sports fan, with a special love for Los Angeles teams. Fay attended nearly every Rams home game for many years and was present at Super Bowl I and Super Bowl VII at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum, witnessing historic moments in football. Her love of baseball was just as strong—she attended many Dodgers games and was present for a truly iconic moment in American history: Jackie Robinson’s debut at Ebbets Field on April 15, 1947.

Fay is survived by her sons, Kenneth Murray and Douglas Murray; her daughters-in-law, Karol Murray of Maui, Hawaii, and Susan Murray of San Juan Capistrano, California; and her beloved grandchildren, Amanda Murray of Boston, Massachusetts, and Matthew Murray of San Juan Capistrano, California. She is also survived by her brother, Peter Castellano, Sr., as well as many nieces and nephews on the Castellano family side, with whom she shared lifelong bonds.

Fay’s life spanned more than a century of remarkable change, yet her connection to family, heritage, and experience remained constant. From her beginnings in New York, to her deep Italian roots, to her life in California, she was part of a rich and enduring family story that continues through those she leaves behind.

She will be remembered with love, respect, and admiration. Her memory will remain a lasting part of her family and all who knew her.

She will be interred next to her beloved husband, Mike, at Pacific View Mortuary in Newport Beach, California, overlooking the Pacific Ocean.

May she rest in peace.
