Flavia was born in Camporeale, Sicily on July 16, 1920. Her family migrated to America later that year and settled in New York. Flavia was the daughter of Carmello and Filipina Martorano. She was preceded in death by her husband Jack and four siblings, Vita, Francis, Thomas, and William.
In 1938, she met her husband Jack and they quickly fell in love and married three years later. In 1942, Jack and Flavia became parents for the first time when John was born. Four years later, Olivia was born which made their family complete. Jack and Flavia moved to Huntington Beach California in 1964 and the rest of Flavia’s family followed shortly after. Flavia and Jack remained married for 67 years, until Jack passed away on Thanksgiving morning in 2008.
Flavia is survived by her two children; John and his wife Madi, Olivia and her husband John; her four grandchildren Flavia and her husband Ulysses, John, Jack and his wife Barbara, and Jenise; and her two great-grandchildren Sophia and Nicholas. Of course, being Sicilian, she was a fantastic cook. She loved preparing meals for her family and friends and whenever anyone asked, “What’s your secret to living so long?” she would always reply, “At least three glasses of red wine a day!”
Services will be held December 1, 2021 at Pacific View Memorial Park in Corona del Mar, CA.
