Freda Avery was born in Tower City, PA to Henry Adolph Lebo and Evelyn Lebo, née Boeckler. In her youth Freda showed talent as a pianist, and her creative leanings stayed with her whole life. Avery earned a degree in elementary education at Shippensburg State Teachers College and taught third and fourth grade for over a decade. She was proud to say that no child graduated from her class without knowing how to read. During this period she also took occasional work as a model and actress for local publications and productions. Freda married her second husband, trucking executive John Thomas Avery, in 1969, and they remained married until her death. She was an avid reader and knitter, and she enjoyed travel with her husband both within the United States and abroad.
Stephen Henry Kott, a son from Freda’s first marriage, passed away in 2013. Freda Avery is survived by her husband John Thomas Avery of Laguna Niguel, CA and her daughters Tara of Desert Hot Springs, CA and Tiffany of Garden Grove, CA.
The memorial service for Freda Avery will be held June 23rd at 10:00 AM at Pacific View Memorial Park in Corona del Mar, CA.
