It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved father, Gerald Michael Greco. Born in Chicago on March 23, 1942, to Peter and Josephine Greco, Gerald was the second of four siblings—Cabrina, Daniel, and late brother, Paul—each of whom played a special role in his life.
Gerald met the love of his life, Diana, in second grade. They married in 1963 and for over 53 years built a life centered on love, perseverance, and family. Together, they raised five wonderful children: Jeff, Greg, Chris, and then Matthew and Melissa all those years later.
A natural athlete and fierce competitor, Gerald excelled in all sorts of sports at Brother Rice High School but it was football that lead him to receive dozens of full ride scholarship offers to play at the collegiate level. Jerry chose to stay close to home and play for the legendary Era Parcigian at Northwestern University. His talent and determination on the gridiron even led him to a brief stint in the NFL, with the Philadelphia Eagles.
After football, Gerald pursued a career in banking and finance, eventually becoming Vice President at Pat Ryan & Associates. But his dream was entrepreneurship and ownership. That dream came true in 1976 when he co-founded Greco-Martin Cadillac, an automotive dealership in Lancaster, CA. And eventually went on to found Stadium Motors in Anaheim, CA. His time as a dealer would propel him in to a lifelong career in the automotive and franchise industries that spanned a half century. Ultimately culminating as the Chief Operating Officer and partner of The Alamitos Group, where he spent over 20 years leading and mentoring countless team members.
No matter how busy his professional life became, Jerry never missed a game or practice of his kids, always putting his family first. His strength, generosity, and unshakable work ethic remain an inspiration to all who knew him.
Jerry is survived by his five children, 11 grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren.
He was a devoted husband, loving father, proud grandfather, and loyal friend. His legacy lives on in all of us.
