Our amazing mother, proud grandma and committed friend, Gladys Lucha, graduated into eternity on June 20, 2019. She was born in New Orleans, LA on April 6, 1920 to Clarence and Lilly Sebring and raised in Atlanta Georgia.
After graduating from the University of Georgia, she moved to Chicago, Illinois where she graduated from the Chicago Art Institute and met her husband, Dale F. Rasmusson. They started their family in Fargo, North Dakota ultimately moving and raising their 3 children in Newport Beach, California. Gladys often reminisced that life with Dale was an adventure, she never knew where they would be going next. A few years after Dale’s premature death, Gladys married Kurt Lucha, adding two children to her family. Kurt and Gladys danced, cruised and traveled around the world several times before Kurt’s passing.
Gladys was an artist, adventurer and a facilitator. Whether it was while working out at the gym or within her ever-expanding neighborhood, wherever she went, she created a community of lifelong friends. This was never more evident than as we gathered for multiple birthday parties celebrating her recent 99th birthday.
Mom cherished her friends, children, grandchildren and each of our spouses. She loved and was especially thankful for the friendship and support of her home care companion, Virgie.
Gladys is survived by her children, Bob (Lana,) Jane Ann (Mark,) Jean (Bob,) Brigitte (Tim,) Eric (Allison,) Austin (Quintin,) Erin, Hannah (Scott), Jonathan (Tory.)
