

Please help us in celebrating and remembering the life of Glen William Cope, of Longmeadow, MA. Glen died suddenly on September 17, 2011 in Oak Brook, IL at the age of 65. He was born in Chicago on March 9, 1946 to Marion and Roland Cope and grew up in Woodstock, IL. After high school he went on to obtain his BS from Northern Illinois University and an MS from The University of Arizona. He enlisted into the U.S. Army at age 22 and served in Germany during the Vietnam War era. After discharge from the Army, Glen became interested in computers and began work for Texas Instruments in Dallas, TX. After a few years in the computer industry Glen’s interest in the investment and financial services business brought him to the broker/dealer side of Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance in Springfield, MA where he worked and enjoyed many friendships during the past 27 years.
Glen’s many interests include photography, ballroom dancing, Starbucks, Toastmasters, reading, the Amelia Earhart mystery, music, and a genuine interest in people. Glen is survived by Mary, his wife of 42 years, his son Brian and wife Victoria, son Andrew, granddaughters Isabella and Elissa, sisters Donna Harwood, Carol Wilcox and husband Terry, Marilyn Costar, and 6 nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that donations be made in Glen’s honor to Dakin Pioneer Valley Humane Society in Springfield, MA, The American Cancer Society, Alzheimer’s Association, or Homes for Our Troops.
Public visitation hours will be on Monday evening from 5:00-6:30pm, September 26, 2011, at Pacific View Memorial Park in Corona del Mar, CA. A funeral Mass at St. Thomas More Catholic Church in Irvine, CA will be held on Tuesday, September 27, 2011 at 9:30 A.M.
