Gregory Webster Brown

July 9, 1951 – September 9, 2025
Obituary of Gregory Webster Brown
IN THE CARE OF

Pacific View Mortuary & Memorial Park

Gregory Webster Brown, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on September 9, 2025, following complications from cancer.

Greg was born on July 9, 1951, in Burbank, California, to Dr. George and Letitia Brown. He grew up in North Hollywood, where he became an all-star water polo athlete throughout high school at Notre Dame High School in Sherman Oaks. Summers and weekends were often spent at Emerald Bay, where his lifelong love of the ocean was nurtured.

He went on to attend the University of Southern California, earning his bachelor’s degree in Sociology. While at USC, Greg was a proud member of the Delta Tau Delta fraternity. It was there that he met the love of his life, Diane May. The two married and built a beautiful life together, raising their children, Michael and Stephanie.

In 1989, Greg and his brother Chris co-founded Brown Brother Construction, a business built on hard work, integrity, and family.

Greg lived life to the fullest and was happiest outdoors. He loved surfing, paddleboarding, and beach life, as well as mountain biking, fly fishing, skiing, snowboarding, golfing, and hunting. A skilled craftsman, he could fix or build just about anything, and he often lent his talents to family and friends. He treasured time spent walking his dogs along the beach, cheering on USC football, and sharing ski and surf trips with loved ones. Above all, Greg cherished his family and the time they spent together, creating memories that will live on forever.

Greg is survived by his devoted wife, Diane May Brown; his children, Michael Brown and wife Ashley, and Stephanie Brown Gabriel and husband Nick; his grandchildren, Lily, Parker, and Catherine Brown, and James, Emily, and Johnny Gabriel; his brothers, Chris Brown and wife Christina, and Nick Brown and wife Diane; his sister, Jennifer Nunez and husband Bob; as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends who will miss him deeply.

The family takes comfort in the countless memories shared with Greg and the lasting impact of his love and presence.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Greg’s memory to the Laguna Canyon Conservancy or the Laguna Ocean Foundation.
