Herbert "Herbie" Rich passed away in the evening of June 4 after a brief battle with pneumonia.
Born in the Bronx New York to parents of Jeannie and Moe Risch. He served in the Merchant Marines and attended City College of New York. He met Gilda, the love of his life one summer in the Catskill mountains of New York and they married on January 11, 1953.
He loved sports and was an avid golfer. He and Gilda moved to Fort Lee and Englewood Cliffs, New Jersey where they lived for over 30 years. They had two children, Larry and Jeannie whom they followed to Laguna Niguel, California where they lived for another 30 years. Sadly, Gilda passed away in December, 2015 and Herb moved closer to his son in West Hills, California.
While living in New Jersey, Herbie and his brother in-law Dave ran a successful embroidery factory in West New York, New Jersey. He loved and adored his children and grandchildren, Farrah and Jeremy along with his nephews Louis and Stuart Shorenstein and Dr. Michael Koss. They are children of his close sisters Fritzie Shorenstein and Mary Koss.
In addition to loving family, he valued his many friendships throughout life. He was an "old fashioned" gentleman with a great sense of humor who loved life, and shared an infectious smile. He was a kind soul who will be truly missed. He is survived by son Larry (Julee), daughter Jeannie (Steve), grandchildren Farrah and Jeremy.
