

After a full life, at age 86 Irene Haynes passed away peacefully on April 9, 2016. Irene was born in Detroit, Michigan on November 19, 1929 and married Jack Haynes on August 28, 1949. After a brief time in Syracuse, New York, Jack and Irene moved to Los Angeles in 1952. They moved to Downey, California in 1954 and then Anaheim in 1958, where they resided for 34 years until 1992. Irene was an accomplished piano player, and taught piano lessons in her home for over 40 years. She performed at many piano recitals and ceremonies. In 1976 and 1980 she completed her B.S and then M.S degrees in Health Science from Long Beach State University, with an emphasis on the health needs of older adults. After a brief time heading up the Medical Records department at College Hospital, she was able to use her musical and education skills together through her work for the North Orange County Adult Education, where she worked for over 25 years, performing and teaching at retirement communities and nursing homes throughout Orange County. Jack and Irene had three children, Darlene, Darrell, and Dana. Jack died in 1990 and after leaving Anaheim, Irene lived in Fountain Valley for 18 years and spent her last 3 years in San Juan Capistrano. She is survived by her daughter Darlene Polfer, son Dana Haynes, married to Kathy Haynes, Kim Haynes, wife of Darrell Haynes (deceased), 11 grandchildren and 7 great-children. Irene was dedicated to her family and was a friend to many.
