Janis S. Hocker
October 19, 1925 – January 6, 2019
Janis Schmidt Hocker, 93, died peacefully at her home in Newport Beach on January 6th, 2019.
She’ll be joining her husband Homer at Pacific View Memorial Park in Corona Del Mar where he’s been enjoying relative peace and quiet the past eighteen years. Clearly, that’s about to change.
Jan came to Los Angeles from Kewaunee, Wisconsin in the early 1940s and seismologists throughout the city swore the ground shook. We don’t doubt them. A strong, intelligent, independent woman who spoke her mind, she was an enormous presence in all of our lives, unfailingly supportive, exceedingly generous, and full of love.
She enjoyed chocolate, coffee yogurt, white wine, and ice cream, in that order. Then she’d go back and start over. Her three favorite colors were beige.
She will be remembered by her incredible family, countless friends, coworkers, and wonderful neighbors, each of whom will think of her every day. Trust us, we’ve got some stories.
Finally, we offer our apologies to Recycled Rags in Corona Del Mar and to the producers and distributors of Dannon Coffee Yogurt, whose respective stock prices are about to fall sharply if they don’t go out of business altogether. Sorry about that.
