Liz,  this is cytotech diane from ohio. Worked at parkview til i moved back to ohio in 1997. Was just talking to julia. Asked her about dr light. I felt so bad. Had no idea he passed away. Of all the pathologists I’ve worked for in my life, i always considered him one of the best. He as a person and as a pathologist will be deeply missed. My deepest sympathy……. Diane. 

Jeffrey was  such a cute guy in junior high school. Some of my girlfriends and I would drive around the neighborhood and check out the cute boys who were one year older than us. Jeff was on our route. So very sorry to hear this sad news.

To everyone in the Light-Sanchez family, we want to offer our prayers and deepest sympathies on Jeff's passing. As one of Adam's oldest friends from OLQA and Servite, I got to know Jeff through visits to their place in Balboa and a ski trip to Mammoth. I will always remember Jeff as generous, welcoming, witty, and incredibly supportive of his children and friends. I thoroughly enjoyed spending time with him and Annie at Adam and Beth's wedding all those years ago.  To Annie, Adam, John, Josh, Alex, and Nick, please feel comfort in the fact that Jeff's memory will live on in all of you and those who knew him.

Growing up with Nick as my best friend, I was fortunate to spend some meaningful time with Jeff. Some of my fondest childhood memories are directly linked with Dr. Light; from incredible adventures in Catalina and Mammoth to just lounging around in Newport trying to avoid messing up the fringes of the rugs, I always had so much fun with Nick and Jeff. I remember my first "surf & turf" was with Jeff, Annie, and Nick at Alpenrose in Mammoth. I was always treated like family and welcomed with open arms. How lucky I was to spend those magical times with my best friend and his remarkable father. I imagine Jeff never knew how he made my life so much better with all of the fun we had; I wish I could thank him now. All of my love and support for the Light Family and everyone who is grieving the loss of Dr. Light. 

Uncle Jeffrey was the middle brother of my father Warren and Jonny. 

When they were all together (which due to distance was not often) I felt like I had 3 dads. They  looked the same, talked the same, and laughed the same. They even said "Ma" the same when talking to Grandma Stella. 

I have great memories of when we visited Jeff and his family in Ca. I visited when I was 8yrs old and again, several years later, for Alex’s Bat Mitzvah. There I got to spend time with his now bigger family - 2 bonus cousins - which was fantastic. 

In addition to California, we had wonderful times in Hallandale, FL at Grandma Stella’s. We all jockeyed to  stay with her instead of at a hotel! 

Something Jeff and I shared was a passion for cars, a passion I had inherited from my dad. Even as a little kid, there was no one Jeff was more excited to talk to about his new purchases of cars or boats than with me. Memories go as far back as my first tour of his two-tone leather Lotus, all the way up to our conversation about the electric Hummer and mid-engine Corvette just the other day. The excitement in his voice was infectious and, yours truly, always ready for that anticipated promised ride.  

I am so glad so many of us were able attend Emily’s wedding. I especially cherished having lunch with Jeff and Annie before the main event. 

Jeff was a son, a father, a husband, a stepfather, a grandfather, a big brother, and a little brother. He was my uncle and I loved him tremendously. He will always be in our hearts.


Dear All My Darling Lights,
 
Over the last months as I prayed for Jeff’s recovery, I visited so many memories.
Besides the joy of cousinhood, Jeff and I grew up together as friends also.  We experienced our first young loves together down in UVA.  How my mother allowed me to trot down to UVA when I was high school---Oh yes, it was because Cousin Jeff would look after me!
Then later when life took Jeff to Lausanne, we traveled together and skied together.  I remember getting caught in a white-out in Crans-Montana, and it was Jeff’s steady calmness in the white wild that got us through.
We also shared our young married years in California.  Jeff was a passionate guy and when he loved, he really loved and he loved California.  And his  passion fueled his conversations.  I remember his being in my house having a “spirited” discussion with an equally opinionated friend and they went at it. They cleared the room and  I loved it!
The years and distance intervened, but the ties were always there. And I knew  I could always call on him for help----either to help me with my mom, his Aunt Irm or my brother Mark.  Jeff was always available and kind and steadfast and caring.  Without fanfare, he was there for me.
The last time I saw Jeff was at Emily’s wedding, I was taken by the joy we shared in being together.  We were so looking forward to spending more time together.
Please know that my dear cousin  Jeff will be spoken of often and always with great gratitude and love.

Dear Jeff
Although our hearts are broken, they’re full of wonderful memories of you.  Whenever we called, you answered and gave the exact advice we needed.  Be it Medical-legal-travel-financial-sports really anything.  Thank you. You were always game for a  good time. Your magnificent Ticket to Ride in Catalina or a bay cruise in our 16ft  Duffy Socket to Me. We let the good times roll.  Thank you. Watching a funny movie with you in a packed theater was a special treat. The Jeff Laugh!! Annie warned us it was a scream laugh and that it was. When people turned and gave you a look-you responded with a New York- Hey it was funny!!!  Everyone laughed WITH you.  Thank you friend. 
We miss you dearly and will remember you with love and laughter.

Jeffrey...
Everything  we did together was fun. 
From playing golf in Westchester, to playing tennis in Florida and Laguna Nigel, and boating to Catalina Island then watching the Americas Cup in San Diego with Gary and Josh. Another special day was with Kimberly, Gary, and Josh at the San Diego Zoo. 
We won’t ever forget all the yummy meals with all our kids in Newport Beach. 
Thank you for all the fond memories we had together.

It is impossible to think of Jeff without hearing his wonderful laugh! It could go on endlessly! So many wonderful memories of fun, fun, times with he and Annie. Catalina was never the same for us without them. Our trip to Europe together, visits to their beautiful Mammoth. So  many evenings filled with laughter. Jeff was an incredible individual. So smart!  Such a dear and loving person. Distance made our contacts too infrequent but never dampened our love and admiration of this wonderful man.


Summers in Brookdale Gardens, sleep away camp on Newfound Lake, listening to the Dodger games from LA with Jeff, War and dad, Southside tennis and wrestling, joining Jeff at UVA and in ZBT fraternity, so many shared memories . Family reunions in Balboa, visits with Stella in Florida, family vacations on the Mediterranean cruise and in Hawaii were some other highlights. The sadness of mom and dad’s illnesses and Jeff’s guiding us all with compassion and his superb medical mind. Later visits to California to celebrate the wedding of Jeff and Annie and then sharing so much joy together with the marriage of our children. Throughout the years, I could always count on Jeff for advice, compassion, understanding and honesty in trying times. No doubt Jeff would sometimes disappear and not be in touch for long periods, but whenever I needed his advice or to talk about something important, he would always be there with empathy, compassion and understanding. I will miss you my dear brother.         

One of my fondest memories of Dad was the utter terror and hysterical laughter expressed simultaneously as he voiced over the video he took of Adam catching ‘the halibut’ in Alaska. #it’sontape

From someone who has known Jeff for his entire life I think the memory that stands out today is sitting in our parents bathroom in Rockville Centre , in the still of the nite, listening to the Dodgers game which was being pitched by Sandy Koufax. Thank god for dad’s transistor radio.

Our memories of Jeff always are of a rosy cheeked smiling man, with twinkly eyes and a warm smile.  He was fun  and we enjoyed  sharing  special time together during visits over the years.
