Jene Louis, beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather, great-grandfather, and dear friend to many, left this world peacefully surrounded by his loving family on July 5, 2023. Jene passed away on the anniversary of the passing of his dear wife, Pauline Louis, who gently left us on the same date, July 5th, just two years earlier. Although we are deeply saddened by his departure, we are grateful to have had Jene with us for as long as we did, and we are comforted by the thought that Jene and Pauline are now reunited once again.
Born in China and spending much of his youth in the lively place that he fondly referred to as “the village,” Jene experienced many adventures throughout his young life. One of his most momentous adventures was his journey across the Pacific as a young man aboard a huge ship which, he would later learn, was the very same ship that was carrying his future wife, Pauline, across the Pacific. Once in the United States, Jene earned degrees in Electrical Engineering at Cornell University as well as a postgraduate degree in engineering at Columbia University. It was at Cornell where he met and later married his wife of 69 years, Pauline, amidst the historical beauty of Sage Chapel on the Cornell campus.
Together Jene and Pauline raised a family of three wonderful children. Jene cherished and was deeply dedicated to his family, his friends, and his profession as an engineer. Without exception, he always made every effort to do his very best, give of himself fully, and aim for excellence regardless of the endeavor. In retirement, he and Pauline moved to Southern California where they lived for 25 years.
Jene is survived by his three children, four grandchildren, and five great grandchildren. An intimate private family funeral will take place in loving memory of Jene at Pacific View Memorial Park, Corona Del Mar, California.
