Joan was born in Salt Lake City, UT to Frank and Esther Maude Worthen. She graduated from the University of Utah in 1961 with a Bachelor’s degree in English teaching and a minor in German. She was a member of Phi Beta Kappa and Phi Kappa Phi. Joan taught 8th grade English until her 2 year mission to Germany. She was married and sealed to Willard L. George on September 9, 1966 in the Salt Lake City temple. Together they raised 2 daughters, Nancy Diamond (John) and Wendy Brower (Richard). All her life she was an active member of the LDS Church. Joan was an avid genealogist, snorkeler, traveler, Scrabble player, mother and grandmother. She taught Weight Watchers for many years and was loved by many. Joan was preceded in death by her husband Bill, brother Dennis and sister Janice. She is survived by her 2 daughters and 5 grandchildren. Joan is no doubt received by the thousands she did genealogy work for. Funeral will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, February 25 at the Irvine Stake Center.
