Joyce Lee Siegfried (neé Smith), aged 94, passed away on Wednesday, May 20th, 2026 in Danville, California. Born on July 10th, 1931, in St. Louis, Missouri, she was the second of Marie and O’Neill Grady Smith’s three children. She attended Notre Dame High School and St. Louis University. In 1956 Joyce married Christian B. Siegfried, the love of her life. The two were devoted to each other, traveled throughout the world together, and lived a beautiful and very full life. Together they moved from St. Louis, Missouri to Pleasanton, California in 1970, and then to Irvine, California in 1979. Gracious and lively hosts, Joyce and Christian B. delighted in entertaining, joyfully welcoming into their home their many cherished friends and family who loved and admired them greatly. In 2017, prior to Christian’s passing, they celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary.
Joyce had a very successful career working in the Human Resources department at Novadyne Computer Systems, Inc. and later at McDonnell Douglas Corp. in southern California. A dedicated and loving wife, mother, and grandmother, and a devout Catholic all her life, Joyce put into action her values of charity and love by contributing to a wide variety of good causes. She volunteered for countless hours at the Irvine Medical Center gift shop and as a docent at the U.C. Irvine Langson Orange County Museum of Art; she was also a participating and active, decades-long member of the Newcomers Club of Irvine.
Joyce adored her family, all of whom will greatly miss her big, bright smile, her cheerfulness, good humor, and gentle ways. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister Nadine (Bob) and her loving husband, Christian B. She is survived by her brother, Grady Smith (Katy); her daughter Janice Bledsoe; her son David Siegfried (Juli); her six grandchildren: Christopher Siegfried (Anitra), Ellen Bledsoe (Dani), Hollianne Siegfried (Dillon), Jaguar Siegfried (Hope), Shelby Siegfried, and Kyle Bledsoe; and her eight great-grandchildren: Lilliana, Monroe, Scarlett, Amelia, Francesca, Avery, Hailey, and Melanie. Joyce will always be remembered with great fondness. May she now rest in peace with the Lord and in the arms of her loving husband, Christian B.
A memorial mass celebrating Joyce’s life was held on July 10, 2026 at St. Isidore Catholic Church in Danville, California; interment followed on July 13, 2026 at Pacific View Memorial Park in Corona del Mar, California.
