June’s life was a beautiful testament to service — to her family, her friends, and her community. She survived two husbands, raised two sons and five stepchildren, and delighted in her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren — a worthy legacy of love and care in itself.
Yet June’s devotion to service extended far beyond her family. Fueled by compassion and personal experience, she dedicated her later years to advocating for and protecting senior citizens. At the age of 76, she began her term as the California Senior Legislator for Thousand Oaks — a position she proudly held from 2002 to 2018.
June’s commitment to her community was extraordinary. She volunteered tirelessly with the Ventura County Area Agency on Aging, the Conejo Senior Volunteer Program Advisory Council, the Board of Trustees of the Conejo/Las Virgenes Future Foundation, and the Conejo Valley Historical Society. She was also deeply involved with Community Conscience, serving on its Board of Trustees and Executive Committee, including a term as President. As Co-Chair of Senior Congress for five years, she helped develop programs that continue to enrich the lives of seniors in the Conejo Valley.
In recognition of her many contributions, June was honored as one of Ventura County’s Top 25 Over 50 and named Volunteer of the Year by the Thousand Oaks Council on Aging.
June is survived by her two sons, Bruce Love and John Love (and his wife Nancy), and their three daughters — Ashley, Rebecca, and Jacquelyn. She is also survived by her five beloved stepchildren — Beth Glasmeier Schwartz; Greg Glasmeier (and wife Corina); Amy Glasmeier (and husband Tom Bell); Mark Glasmeier (and former wife Kathy Nelson); and Mary Ellen Campeau (and husband George)— along with her adored step-grandchildren Robert, Brooke, Amanda, Kyle, Katelyn, Brendan, Bridget, Andrew, and Graham, and 14 great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her first husband, Robert Love (1975), and her second husband, Paul Glasmeier (2009).
A private memorial service will be held at Pacific View Memorial Park & Mortuary in Corona del Mar, California.
In lieu of flowers, a charitable donation may be made in her name to Community Conscience at communityconscience.org.
Those who knew June remember her as a woman who never stopped learning, never stopped giving, and never stopped caring. Her legacy of compassion and community leadership continues to inspire all who were fortunate to know her. Indeed, June Love Glasmeier’s life was truly a life worthwhile — one that will be long remembered and deeply missed.
