A MESSAGE FROM THE FAMILY
Kathryn “Kathy” E. Thrasher, 97, passed away on January 15, 2025, at Hoag Hospital - Irvine. She was an only child born on November 15, 1927, in Manette, Washington to Edythe E. Angle and P. Wolford Herman. She attended Pacific Lutheran University, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in 1949 followed by University of Washington, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in Librarianship in 1950. Her viewing and funeral services were held on February 4, 2025, at Pacific View Funeral Home and her burial was on February 5, 2025, at Riverside National Cemetery. These were attended by family and close friends. Kathy married Dale Thrasher on August 26, 1951, and lived in Washington state, New York, and Costa Mesa, California since 1960. She was a widow to Dale who passed in December 2003. Kathy leaves behind three children: James, Mary, and Robert, plus 3 grandchildren: Sarah, Greg, and Christine and 2 great grandchildren: Danielle and Rowan. Kathy worked as a librarian for the Newport-Mesa Unified School District until retiring in 1984. She always loved reading, and was blessed with good eyesight until the very end. Other activities she enjoyed were hiking various local trails and parks and bird watching and simply being outdoors. She also played piano for choirs conducted by Merle Valdez, a long-time friend, for many years. She also enjoyed playing the piano with some church friends at the various senior care facilities in Costa Mesa and Newport Beach. Kathy was an attendee and member of Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa for many years. She and Dale were involved in many ministries there including the senior studies, prison ministries, senior church choir, and other activities. She was vocal in her love for the Lord Jesus. Her generosity in spending time and giving attention to friends and family about their concerns and joys in life will always be remembered.
