Our beloved Kim Hsieh went home to be with Jesus on March 7th, 2026 surrounded by her closest family and friends. Kim was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend to so many. She celebrated her 63rd birthday on January 10th and cherished her last birthday with 100 of the closest friends who had been praying for her for the past 7 years.
Kim truly lived life to the fullest for 63 years! Born in Seoul, Korea as the seventh daughter to Ta Kwan and Kap In Choe on January 10, 1963, she moved to the States when she was 9 years old. After graduating from Fountain Valley High School, she majored in Asian American Studies and graduated from Cal State Long Beach. She was introduced to her husband, David Hsieh through a mutual friend, and got married October 12th, 1987. In the following years they had 3 daughters, Grace (37), Tesia (34), and Evangeline (32). Kim and David lived in Diamond Bar, CA for 33 years in a beautiful home where many cherished memories were made.
Since childhood, Kim had always been self-motivated to seek excellence in everything she did, while always prioritizing time with her family. While raising her three young girls, she owned a medical practice with her husband and managed it for many years. After much prayer, she decided to step away from corporate life to focus on raising her children. After the girls grew older, she went on to pursue her doctorate in Psychology and worked in a clinical setting where she made impactful differences in the lives of her patients. At the same time, she was actively involved in public service through various community leadership roles such as Parks and Recreation Commissioner, Traffic and Transportation Commissioner, as well as involvement in the Korean Chamber of Commerce.
She balanced school and work while remaining deeply present for her daughters—attending every field trip, volunteering regularly for school events, and cheering them on at each musical recital. She nurtured their confidence to step into leadership roles and encouraged a lasting love of music. She also lovingly took care of her mother in law, Wen-Li Hsieh, for 16 years. She seemed able to do it all, yet always kept her family at the heart of everything she did.
Above all, she put her faith first and was known for her deep love for her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She shared that love with everyone she met, and after her breast cancer diagnosis, her faith grew even stronger. She embraced this season with gratitude, using it to share the goodness of God more boldly. Through every trial, she clung to her faith, leaving a lasting example for her family to follow.
The final four months of her life, she endured three hospitalizations, and serious complications, including progressing cancer, sudden kidney failure, multiple blood clots, lymphedema, pneumonia, ascites, frozen shoulder, shingles, and sepsis twice. She endured dialysis three times a week, regular chemotherapy, and even completed 5 rounds of radiation. Every time a new complication occurred, she would say “bring it on” and kept going with a positive fighting spirit. Despite these ongoing treatments, she continued to share the gospel with anyone she met in and out of the hospital, meeting every challenge with courage and a steadfast trust in God.
Her last wish was to be able to go home to be with the people she loved the most. After returning home from the hospital for the third time, she passed away peacefully on March 7th, after battling cancer for 7 long years. She was surrounded by her husband, children, sons in laws, seven grandchildren, and closest family and friends who sang worship songs and prayed together over her. Though she was peacefully resting and had not moved the entire day, she shed tears upon hearing the worship songs, and took her final breath.
Preacher Voddie Baucham who also recently went to be with the Lord, once said, “Sometimes God is glorified when sick saints get well. But more often than not, God is glorified when sick saints die well.” We believe God gave her remarkable strength to endure every trial, and she remained a fighter and steadfast in her faith until she took her last breath here and first one in heaven. Though we mourn her passing, we carry forward the legacy she leaves behind—to live fully and share the goodness of God. She lived and finished well, standing firm in her faith, and we hold onto the hope of being reunited with her in heaven.
If there is one thing she would want to share with you, it’s the miraculous story of her Lord and Savior and all that He has done for her and for those He loves. God loves you so much and desires to have a personal relationship with you to the point that He would send His one and only beloved Son to die on the cross in our place for our sins. Jesus had been with her through all the trials in her life and He had sustained her to the end. If there is anyone who needs hope, there is good news! Jesus was Kim’s living hope all of her life, and she would desire that you would know Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior as she did.
Every prayer and word of encouragement has blessed our family so much and helped us to continue to persevere. We cherish all your countless prayers and many tangible ways that our friends and family have gathered to love on and support us.
She leaves her spiritual legacy behind with her husband David, her daughter Grace, son-in-law Titus, daughter Tesia, son-in-law David, daughter Evangeline, son-in-law Daniel, and 7 grandchildren: Josiah, Jonathan, Isabella, Judah, Beckham, Celine, and Declan. Thank you for praying, loving on, and cherishing our beloved wife and mom well to the end.
“Well done, good and faithful servant; you were faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.” Matthew 25:21
We invite you to celebrate her life with us on March 28, 2026. We will have an open viewing at 10 am at Pacific View Memorial Park with a service to follow at 11:15 am on Catalina Vista Staging Area.
