

Stovall, Lois, died on Sunday, Sept. 12th from complications of pnemonia. She will be greatly missed by her daughters: Alison Hicks, Diane Stovall and Joan Stovall, son-in-law Cyrus Hicks, and grandchildren, Jarod Hicks, Lauren Hicks and Chad Stovall. As well as by many family members and dear friends. She was a Newport Beach resident for 35 years. Lois was born in Detroit, Michigan on November 29, 1930. Her parents moved to Tucson, Arizona when she was 10 years old due to her father's failing health. Her father, a World War I Veteran, saw service in France and was awarded a purple heart. Lois graduated from Phoenix Union high school in 1947. She attended Phoenix College and graduated from the Good Samaritan Hospital School of Nursing. She then married Robert Stovall. They were married for 56 years until he died in 2009. Lois was a very active member and sponsor of the Newport Harbor Art Musuem which is now the Orange County Museum of Art. She had a passion for contemporary arts, was an avid reader of many detective novels, particularity Michael Connelly, and enjoyed many book fairs. She was a talented bookmaker and created many small handmade books. She enjoyed many years with her friends from their book club and friends from OCMA. She has been described by many friends and family as being a great and lovely Lady. Lois was a compassionate lady with a wonderful sense of humor and loved winning at Scrabble! She will be missed by many family members and friends. Funeral services will be held this Saturday, Sept. 18th at Lutheran Church of the Master in Corona del Mar at 11am. In lieu of flowers donations in her memory can be made to Lutheran Church of the Master for music ministry.
