Please be advised of the following:
1) There will be three services for Louisa -- the locations & dates / times are listed at the end of this e-note. Some inquiries about these services have come up, so Wilson & Lisa have asked Ms. Ruby Yeung to be the point person to provide detailed information. Ruby's e-address is [email protected]
A photo magnet souvenir will be distributed at the services, one per person.
2) Also, Wilson and Lisa have shared that Louisa's immediate family & relatives have provided more than enough flower arrangements for the three services. Therefore, if you are thinking of sending a floral tribute, please consider making a contribution to one of the following Christian organizations:
a) Southern Baptist Foundation -- http://www.sbfdn.org/give-now/
b) Chinese Christian Herald Crusade -- http://cchc.org/support
3) We praise God for Louisa and for what we have witnessed of His love and mercy. To God be all the glory. We'd like to invite all to share an anecdote about Louisa at www.caringbridge.org in Louisa Chan's site.
Louisa Tak-Ling Yeung Chan was born in Hong Kong on February 25, 1957. She was a kind, loving, and generous mother, companion, and sister. Louisa was the favorite and youngest sibling of her two elder brothers, elder sister, and twin sister. She was also a benevolent and affectionate aunt to her eleven nephews and nieces, whom she treated as her own children and loved them all so very dearly.
Louisa attended Colégio de Santa Rosa del Lima, an English Secondary School in Macau, for 9th and 10th grade. She then attended St. Mary’s Academy in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, for 11th and 12th grade. She graduated from the University of Manitoba, Canada, with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1981. She received her Master of Arts in Education degree in 1985 from the United States International University in San Diego, California, USA.
Louisa was known as Miss Yeung by her students when she worked as an English teacher at Heep Woh College in Hong Kong for 2 years. She moved to Southern California in 1984 and started working as a realtor in 1989. She first worked at Century 21 Professional for 12 years and later at RE/MAX Premier Realty for 15 years. She was well respected by her clients and colleagues.
Louisa was baptized at the Winnipeg Chinese Alliance Church. She loved the Lord with all her heart and served Him for many years. She started serving as an aide in Sunday School at First Chinese Baptist Church, Los Angeles, in 1989. She received Sunday School teacher training at FCBC in 1994 and started teaching 2nd grade in 1995. She continued to serve faithfully in her teaching ministry after moving to Chinese Baptist Church of Central Orange County, Irvine, in 1998. She served at CBCCOC for 18 years until her passing. She loved teaching 1st and 2nd graders and was well known to the kids for giving out yummy snacks and fun small toys from her treasure box if they behaved and did their homework.
Louisa is survived by her daughter, Lisa, who loves her mom and will miss her dearly. She is also survived by her husband, Wilson. Wilson and Louisa met each other in Winnipeg and were acquainted for 41 years. Pastor Herman Tang officiated their wedding in 1987 and they recently celebrated their 29th wedding anniversary on July 25, 2016.
Louisa was beautiful, selfless, and gentle. She loved her family dearly and was always there to help, care, and listen. She was constantly in contact with her family members and would often call them to chat and catch up even if they lived far away in Canada and Hong Kong.
Louisa’s favorite hobbies included shopping and eating out with her family and friends, watching Cantonese TV shows at home with her husband giving her foot massages, and cooking delicious meals for her family and friends.
She is irreplaceable and will be missed deeply by all who knew and loved her.
Arrangements under the direction of Pacific View Memorial Park and Mortuary FD1176, Corona Del Mar, CA.
