Lucas Robert Smith, age 30, passed peacefully in his sleep on June 28, 2013. Lucas was a video game enthusiast with a special gift for making others smile. Lucas is survived by his mother and brother Deborah and Ryan Hanselman of Fountain Valley, CA; his father Robert Smith and stepmother Terri Smith; sister Rachel Hayes and brother-in-law Charles. He was very proud of being an uncle to Sarah these past 7 years. He leaves behind cousins, aunts, uncles & grandparents, and friends who loved him dearly and were transformed by his incredible strength through adversity. The family would like to thank all the caregivers at Hoag Memorial Hospital and the wonderful home health nurses. The family asks that donations be made to the Spina Bifada Association, Canine Companions, or to the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
