

• Born: 11/16/24 in Ashville, NC
• Grew-up in New Orleans until he enlisted in the Navy and became a Navy pilot
• Attended Julliard School of Music in New York City and became a professional horn player in both New York City and Detroit, MI
• Changed his career and was employed by Ford Motor Company in Michigan and in 1960 accepted a transfer to Newport Beach, CA where he worked for the Aeronutronics Division of Ford until his retirement
• Was the consummate, respectful, gentleman
• Loved his family with every inch of his being
• Missed his wife of 50 years, and was proud of his children and grandchildren and delighted with his great grandchildren
• Treasured his friendships
• Was an avid reader, a computer expert, and he loved learning about as much new technology as he could
• Was an intellectual that continued to attend university classes
• Was financially astute
• Enjoyed cooking and was a knowledgeable wine connoisseur
• Frequented museums
• Volunteered in his community for over 30 years
• Survived by his children Sandra (Sunnye) Salway (Clancy), Geoffrey Patterson and Cheryl Lou Patterson; Sister Mabel Leito in Fort Worth, TX; Grandchildren Thea Johnston (David), Buffy Thom (Michael), Megan McLean, Scott and Matt Patterson and great grandchildren Ava Jean, Scout, Harlow and Willoughby
