Marilyn Joyce Badham Martin, aged 80, died peacefully on June 20th, 2013 at Orange Coast Memorial hospital in Fountain Valley, CA, after struggling with a history of Rheumatoid Arthritis, Pulmonary Fibrosis, and Congestive Heart Failure; among other health problems impacting her quality of life. Born Sept 28th, 1932 Los Angeles, California, the daughter of Edward D. and Virginia E. Badham.
Marilyn Martin thoroughly loved music (singing Opera, playing piano, writing music), painting (portraits, sceneries, and more), as well as enjoyed the outdoors. She was an extremely beautiful person outside as well as was extraordinarily beautiful inside. Marilyn was a very loving, intelligent, and amazingly talented & creative person. Her immense musical ability and creativity drove her, in High School as a member of the acapella choir, to compose music for the band to play at her graduation ceremony.
Marilyn graduated from Los Angeles High School and attended the University of Arizona and the University of Southern California (USC). She was a member of the Pi Beta Phi Sorority. As an accomplished musician she toured with a light opera company in Los Angeles and performed with the Orange Coast College Summer light opera productions.
In addition to her musical and artistic talents she enjoyed photography, videography, graphic & multimedia design among other things. Her career included being a model, a stewardess with American Airlines, and real estate agent/broker.
She was a deeply devoted loving and caring single mother who was very involved in her three sons’ education and lives. She was fanatical about correcting their grammar, as well as with others, to the point where it’s rubbed off on to her sons. Moreover, she truly enjoyed involving her sons in a wide variety of extracurricular activities (sports, music, dance, computers, painting, and more), and going to their games and events; to stimulate their creativity and passions. As a grandmother she greatly enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren playing dress-up, taking pictures, reading books, introducing them to music, playing games, and more.
Her creative spirit will be in our hearts forever.
