Matthew Edward Lecce

With deepest sorrow, we announce that Matthew “Matt” Lecce, our most beloved son, father, partner, brother, brother-in law, uncle and friend, passed away unexpectedly at the age of 37 on Thursday, November14, 2019.

Matthew was a loving partner to Brittany Hellings, and a devoted Father to their 4 year old son Christopher.

Matthew had an outgoing, playful, and charismatic personality. He enjoyed life and the company of friends and family. He was thoughtful, considerate and possessed a big heart of gold.

Matthew spent a lot of time outdoors growing up in Laguna Niguel. He loved the ocean and would spearfish for lobster. He was also an experienced body boarder and would ride the 15 foot waves at the “Wedge” in Newport Beach.

Matthew formed strong roots on both the west coast and east coast. He spent many summers visiting with family in New York. He loved spending time with his Grandmother who spoiled him with homemade Italian dishes.

He was a gifted athlete and developed a particular passion for snowboarding and ice hockey. His ice hockey team traveled throughout the US and advanced to the USA Hockey National Championships finals game in Ohio in 1996. He also lettered in ice hockey at Cushing Academy in Ashburnham, MA.

Matthew enjoyed a 15 year career in the mortgage and debt settlement industry working as a loan officer and broker. He was very trustworthy and exceled in is his job. At one point, he ventured off and formed his own business in San Diego, CA.

We will miss him dearly and will treasure the great memories and wonderful life experiences we enjoyed together. Matthew is survived by his partner, Brittany Hellings, and son, Christopher Lecce, his parents Domenick and Christine Lecce, his sister Elizabeth Reilly, his brother-in-law Dennis Reilly and his nieces Chloe Reilly and Julia Reilly.
