Where do I start? Matt and I have had such great experiences and never had an experience with Matt that wasn’t positive.

He was always so positive and his positivity impacted everyone.

I’ll never forget the first time I met Matt - he came to visit me and Chris at Hotel W in Hollywood. Matt was really into fitness and believed in eating as much calories as possible - when we checked out, I remember having a $260 check on M&Ms (so basically Matt had 50 packet of M&Ms). Chris and I were baffled and impressed at the same time!

One of Matt’s favorite place was JW Marriott in Palm Springs - as I was looking through my Marriott account and noticed that Matt and I had been to JW Marriott 73 nights in 6 years. He loved the pool, relaxation and restaurants in the hotel - those weekends spent with Matt recharges me for the high stress job that I have. So much fun and so many great memories!

Finally, we often discuss how Matt’s mom Mary is so good at board games (we always chatted about whether she has a special instructions manual that we didn’t have access to!)

My only regret was - Matt and I had a dinner reservation on Ruth’s Chris steakhouse in San Diego on 6.19.2020 and beach day planned for 6.20.2020 - and that didn’t happen. When I spoke to him on the Monday of the week - he was excited to have a relaxing couple of days before his job started back up at Stretch Lab.

I’ve so much love for the Rhorer family - and I’ll miss Matt so much. Until next time!

I met Matty years ago while working at Cal Beach Sushi in Newport Beach. I remember he would come in often with a group of friends and you could always hear his laugh from across the restaurant. Throughout the years we would always run into Matty while hanging out with Caleb and he always greeted you with that beautiful big smile of his and ask how things were going. He truly was always so interested in what one was up to. We always had such a great time with him. He was always up for anything. The last time we spent time with Matty was at Caleb and Sheli's wedding in Big Sur and it was quite the epic celebration for all of us! We'll never forget the times we all spent together. Rest easy Matty! Will miss you so much.

My dear friend Matt,
I will miss that smile paddling up to me in the water and the encouragement that came with that smile always. You were selfless to a T! Always wanting to know about others first. I found this picture of us when we were all young and rambunctious in the Pacific Ocean 🌊 swimming around Catalina with your brother Stephen. Love you always

This is the Sister of one of Matty's dearest friends Caleb...

Matty, I truly believe you are feeling how much of an impact you made on this world. You are so unbelievably loved, you will always be deeply loved and never ever forgotten. You have a soul that is so electric and heart that is so so giving. Just like others have shared, I seriously can hear your laugh right now and see your smile, what a legend you are Matty. I know I told you this in the past and I hope you always felt it, I looked up to you like a real brother. In fact, you impacted my entire family, to the point that we all considered you apart of the Phipps family.

Life is crazy, uncertain, devastating and everything in between, but here's what we do know You my brother are living free and wild....
I love you with all my heart Matty

Matty, you were such a breath of fresh air while we were in college. Always smiling and always made others feel so welcomed. Your smile and unforgettable laugh will always be near to my heart. I look forward to the day we will celebrate in Heaven.

So many of my college memories are sealed with Matty’s laugh in the background. Matt was a great friend and always so much fun to be around. Love you Matty and comforted to know that we will see you again.

Rhorers, I am thinking about you and am heart-broken over the loss of Matt. I haven’t seen you in 20 years, but Matt and I were close childhood friends. Those were formative years which affected the person I am today. I looked up to Matt and wanted to be like him in many ways. He was genuinely kind. He gave selflessly. He lifted you up when you were down. He will forever be my example of those things, and I can only hope to be half as good at them as he was. I am praying for God’s comfort for you all.
