Nedda Wail Hammoudi Alali, 58, passed away peacefully October 10, 2020, surrounded by her loved ones, after a three-year battle with ALS. Nedda was born October 15, 1961 in Cardiff, Wales to Wail Hammoudi and Ann Margaret Cook, but spent her childhood in England and Iraq with her mother, father, and younger sister, Shatha Hammoudi. Nedda and Nabil Alali are high school sweethearts that met in 1978, and they have been together ever since.

Nedda, the owner of an uninterrupted smile, was a fiercely passionate and high energy woman that sought out the beauty that nature offered her with an eye for design and an impeccable taste. Utilizing these gifts, she spent most of her career working in fashion with an affinity not only for the finer things in life, but also the creativity it promoted inside of her. Nedda loved being outdoors and being active. She spent her summers by the pool, or on the beach. She loved to host with an attitude of grateful abundance, always making room for one more. She was more than just great company; she was a great dancer, an unbelievable chef, and an incomparable DJ.

She loved her three surviving daughters; Yassmin, Shereen, and Tatyana, and her grandson, Zabi Zayd. Traveling in a wheelchair to the hospital, Nedda is remembered feeling extremely joyous holding her first grandson for the first time. Watching Zabi grow, and the knowledge of future grandchildren to come became her delight in her last months of life. Her legacy is carried by these three strong, intelligent women and loving husband that cherish her memory as a marvelous mother, best friend and confidant. Nedda’s mindfulness and journey became not only a living example, but also a mantra for her family to always live your life to the fullest because tomorrow is never promised.

I met Nedda nearly 42 years ago where she captured my heart with her beauty , grace deep intense eyes and smile that never ends ; we connected and the rest was history..

We had truly joyful years of the deepest love, happiest moments, and truest partnership that I could ever imagine as we really counted on each other with unctonditional support and love ... Most importantly, she gave us our precious girls that will carry her legacy forever and will always make her proud.

Nedda without a doubt was my rock and sounding board, Throughout the good the bad and the ugly and we have definitely been through a lot but magically together we always figured things out. She was completely dedicated to our family in every way and really took care of the girls and myself with unconditional love, energy and passion.

I am glad that in the last year she got to enjoy Yassmin and Jordan have our first grandson Zabi Zaid, Shereen got engaged to Tyler and expecting a baby and Tatyana got married to Shion.

Nedda was a true fighter throughout the ALS brutal disease always kept her contagious smile stayed positive and tried to enjoy life to the best she could, unfortunately in the end it got the best of her and did not want to live in pain any longer.

But as heartbroken as I am today, I am equally grateful for all the precious and very special years that I shared with Nedda even in these last few years of completely utter hell – the darkest and saddest moments of my life and girls– as we always felt helpless and all we can do is to ensure she is comfortable until the last breath she took.
I know how lucky I have been to have met nedda she really completed me and was a very special women that meant the world to me and will always be my true love.

My beloved one You fought a good fight For all of us and gave it your best throughout , Now the time has come for you to rest. So go in peace, you’ve earned your sleep, Your love in our hearts, we will eternally keep.
