Oswald "Ozzie" Carl Patzmann

Oswald was named in honor of his uncle, Ensign Oswald Eugene Asplundh Jr., a U.S. Navy pilot who died in a training accident while serving during World War II.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jeanette Patzmann (née Asplundh), Henry Patzmann, and his sister, Marcia Bruketta. He grew up in Glenview, Illinois.

Oswald is survived by his wife, Hoonam ‘Linda’ Patzmann, his daughters, Jennifer Johnson (Corey), Lisa Fullerton, and Stephanie DiPietro (Joseph), and his grandchildren, Leigha Fullerton, Holly Fullerton, Paul DiPietro, Sarah Johnson, Nicholas DiPietro, Benjamin Johnson, and Noah DiPietro. His extended family also includes Linda’s sons, Sang Yoon (Susan) and Andy Yoon, and her grandchildren, Elijah and Faith Yoon, the children of Sang and Susan. He greatly enjoyed visiting with all of the grandchildren.

A member of Glenbrook South High School’s first graduating class in 1965, Oswald later attended Bryn Athyn College in Bryn Athyn, Pennsylvania, and then graduated from Northern Illinois University. He continued his education toward an MBA and built a successful career in the technology industry.

Oswald enjoyed boating, traveling abroad, volunteering, and attending concerts with family at Ravinia Festival in Highland Park, Illinois. He also loved the golden retrievers he had throughout his life. His volunteer work as a Christian church counselor was especially meaningful to him.

In his own words, Oswald shared, “Life is everything with the people I care about.”

A small memorial service will be held in Newport Beach on Saturday, September 12, 2026. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity meaningful to the donor.
