

Poppy is the eldest daughter of Andrew and Despina Cambiotis born in Elizabethville, Belgian Congo, Africa on July 25th, 1923.
She was raised in Africa where she met her husband, H. John Bridger in Zambia then came to America near the end of WWII with their daughter Constance and son John.
Poppy and her husband made California their home where they both worked as chemists. Bridger, a PhD chemist, had spent nearly 45 years as a precious-metals specialist at several large companies including Gemini Industries, where she was the chief chemist. She was recognized as Chemist of the Year by her peers in the 70’s. Later Poppy founded Anaheim Test Laboratory and worked as chief chemist alongside her daughter, son, and grandson.
Poppy was very active in her church at St. Paul’s Greek Orthodox Church in Irvine.
She is predeceased by her husband, H. John Bridger, her daughter, Constance Starr and survived by her son John Bridger of Santa Ana, her two sisters Anna Sperandeo of Charlotte, North Carolina, and Helene Dodd of Northumberland, England, her grandchildren; Wesley and Michelle Bridger, John Bridger, Colleen and Kenneth Perks, four great grandchildren, four great great grandchild.
Traditional Greek Orthodox services will be held Wednesday, February 27th at 7pm and a funeral service will be Thursday, February 28th at 10 am both at St. Paul’s Greek Orthodox Church in Irvine with internment at Pacific View Memorial Park and Mortuary in Corona Del Mar.
