Dick Rivett, a Balboa Island resident, loving family patriarch, war veteran, business man and mentor to many died on Saturday. He was 90. Dick was proceeded in death by Carol, his wife of 58 years, his parents Fred and Estelle, and his brother Robert. Dick is survived by three loving children and their families; Linda and Paul Lovelace (children Laura, Jenny, Rochelle and Jonathan); Cathleen and Greg Pecchia (daughters Antonia and Carole Anne); Ric and Susan Rivett (daughters Paige and Camille).
Dick was a Veteran of World War II in the Pacific from 1948-49, and the Korean War serving 1951-1952. He had a successful 40 year career with Machinery Sales Company (MASCO), rising from a salesman to CEO, 1959 to 1999.
Dick spent his early years in Huntington Park where graduated from Huntington Park High School in 1946. There he met Carol and his lifelong ‘Club’ friends with whom they enjoyed a lifetime of parties, vacations, and annual trips to Yosemite. Dick and Carol raised their family in Whittier, and retired to Balboa Island, California. Dick was happy to help, encourage, and advise people throughout his personal and professional life. He was always positive, calm and thoughtful. Dick loved to have a good party - he was a thoughtful and generous host, concerning himself with all aspects of any event. He thoroughly embraced Balboa Island life spearheading grounding of the overhead utilities for Little Balboa Island and served on the Environmental Quality Affairs Committee (EQAC) for the City of Newport Beach.
Services will be held at Pacific View Mortuary in Corona Del Mar at 10 AM on Friday, July 19th, followed by a celebration of his life.
