With heavy hearts, but in celebration of his life, we announce that Robert “Bob” Broaddus, age 88 of Corona del Mar, California peacefully went to be with Christ the Lord the morning of August 1, 2023. Our husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather will be greatly missed.
A memorial service and celebration of his life will be held at St. Andrews Presbyterian Church on Saturday, October 28th at 11:00am.
Bob was born on April 29th, 1935, in Inglewood, California to William and Elizabeth Broaddus. During his lifetime he traveled the world visiting over 100 countries, yet he was always at home next to the ocean he loved in Southern California.
Bob’s early career as a Marine Corp pilot transitioned to him becoming both a private and commercial pilot after his military career had concluded. While his love for the Lord and his family always came first, his love for aviation always seemed to permeate a conversation.
He told his family that his decades-long career at Pacific Mutual Life Insurance company had been to prepare him for the leadership he would eventually bring to Forest Home Christian Conference Center. Even in his retirement years, Bob loved working for a purpose like in his work with the Foundation for Christian Stewardship.
Bob is survived by his wife of 58 years, Chris Broaddus; his three sons; Bruce (54), Brent (51) and Susan, Brian (44) and Tiffany, seven grandchildren (Trevor, Brittney, William, Aidan, Adam, Elliott and Colin) and two great-grandchildren (Luke and Noah). Bob is also survived by his sister, Carol Paul.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Forest Home in honor of Bob: https://www.foresthome.org/giving/
I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Henceforth there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, will award to me on that Day, and not only to me but also all who have loved his appearing.
2 Timothy 4:7-8
