

Robert Allen Raff, a resident of Rancho Santa Margarita, was born on February 17, 1931 in Chicago, Illinois to Nathan and Dora Raff; and passed away on September 10, 2010. Robert graduated from Venice High School in 1948 and received his doctorate from the Chicago School of Optometry in 1954. Robert returned to California and soon met his future wife Lee Goodman at a hot dog stand in the summer of 1954. Robert was drafted into the Army where he was an optometrist and while serving duty, he married Lee. After having their three children, they moved to Arcadia. Robert had his optometry practice in El Monte for over 35 years. Robert’s favorite things in the world were his family, friends and food. He was also active throughout his life playing tennis and basketball up to the age of 73. Robert was a lifelong Lakers fan, would always have a camera in hand to take everyone or anyone’s picture, enjoyed traveling with family and friends and was a classic movie buff. Robert had a youthful approach throughout his life, a wonderful sense of humor and his wife and family were everything to him.
He is survived by Lee, his wife of 54 years and their three children: David Raff (Cindy), Edie Pratt (Eric), and Michael Raff (Cynthia); grandchildren Corinn, Gregory, Adam, Olivia, Alexandra, Kelsey and James; great grandchildren, Nicholas and Christian; and his sister, Ileane Doolin. Services will be held at Pacific View Memorial Park in Corona Del Mar on Friday, September 17, 2010 at 10am. A gathering for family and friends will be held after the memorial service at Seasons 52, Located at South Coast Plaza, 3333 Bristol Street, Suite #2802 in Costa Mesa.
