Thurmond, Robert S., D.D.S., M.D., of Newport Beach, California, passed away peacefully on September 24, 2010. Born in Los Angeles on September 19, 1922, Dr. Thurmond proudly served in both the Army and the Navy, and, subsequently, dedicated himself to a career in medicine that spanned more than 45 years. In all forms of service, he was dedicated and honored. He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Mercedes; his son, Robert; daughter-in-law, Erica; grandson, Daniel, and his daughter, Melanie. A funeral service for Dr. Thurmond will be held on Wednesday, October 6th, 2010, at 11:00 a.m., at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Newport Beach.
