

Sander A. Kessler (Sandy), of Newport Beach, passed away on March 9, 2013. Born February 20, 1922, in the Czech Republic to American parents, Jennie & Aaron Kessler, he grew up on a farm where his grandfather instilled in him a lifelong love of animals and nature. Sandy immigrated to the U.S. at the age of 13. During WWII he proudly served his country in Army Intelligence. Sandy was the founder of Sander A. Kessler & Assoc., a Los Angeles based firm, which he developed into one of the top insurance brokerages in the country. He was an avid equestrian and lover of dogs, a sports enthusiast, a Silver Life Master at Bridge, and in earlier years, enjoyed tennis and golf. Sandy & his wife, Surelle, treasured the time they spent traveling. He was a humanitarian and a philanthropist. He is survived by his loving wife, Surelle, his sons Kenneth and Steven (Holly), his daughters Sharon K. Mathis (Dan), and Shelley Kessler; grandchildren: Matthew (Rashana) Page; Colette, Semone, Kennedy, Katie, Michael, and Taylor; as well as his nieces and nephews. Funeral Services at Pacific View Cemetery, Corona Del Mar, CA, Monday, March 11th at 2:00 pm.
