Sarah R. Edwards

Sarah “Ruth” Edwards, 87, passed away peacefully at home on August 25, 2019 in Dana Point, California. Funeral services will be held at West Resthaven Mortuary Chapel, 6450 W Northern Ave, Glendale, Arizona on September 7, 2019 at 2:00 P.M. Visitation will be held at 1:00 P.M. prior to the service. West Resthaven Funeral Home is handling the funeral arrangements. Ruth was born in Peoria, Arizona to C.M. and Sarah Edith Edwards on February 20, 1932. She graduated from Peoria High School and went on to earn her BA from Pasadena College in Pasadena, California. She taught school in Arizona, California, and Michigan. After retiring from teaching, Ruth opened a daycare/preschool business. She provided a safe Christian environment for children. Ruth spent most of her adult life in the Flint, Michigan area. After closing her business, Ruth moved to Dana Point, California with her niece. She loved volunteering at church, a hospice group, and the hospital. She especially enjoyed traveling around the U.S. and Canada with friends and family in her motorhome. Ruth is survived by nieces, Martha Burns of Dana Point, California, Linda D’Avola of Tempe, Arizona, Joyce Classen of Prescott Valley, Arizona, and nephews, John Burns of Peoria, Arizona and Ken Edwards of Pasadena, California as well as sister-in-law Florence Edwards of Pasadena, California. She is also survived by many great-nieces and great-nephews in Arizona, California, and Colorado.
