

April 1st, 1942 and departed this world from Irvine,California on July 3rd, 2025. He was the first in his family to attend high school, and he got his MSc from Banaras Hindu University in India. In 1968, he immigrated to the United States and earned his PhD in nuclear physics at the University of Kentucky as well as a post-doctoralfellowship at the University of Notre Dame. There he discovered his love for Kentucky Wildcat basketball and Notre Dame Fighting Irish football. As a nuclear physicist in Houston and Tulsa, he developed nuclear spectroscopy tools for well logging in the oil and gas industry. He truly enjoyed discussing the intersection of philosophy and science, dancing exuberantly, telling captivating stories,and immersing himself in his granddaughters’ activities.Dr. Tripathi is survived by his wife Shanti, son Ashok,daughter-in-law Sheila, granddaughters Sonali and Leela,and the Swaroop and Kota families.I’ve lived a life that’s full, I traveled each and every highway,and more, much more than this, I did it my way.—Frank Sinatra
