Obituary of Vincent Joseph Atchinson Jr.
IN THE CARE OF

Pacific View Mortuary & Memorial Park

Vincent Joseph Atchinson Jr., age 92, of Orange County, California passed away on Saturday, May 18, 2024.

Vince was born to Vincent J. Atchinson Sr. and Martha E. (Hirsch) Atchinson on August 27, 1931 in Colony, New York. He was their fourth child but first son. His three sisters; Ruthie (Skinner), Eleanor (Kennison) and Ethel (Wauchope) adored their baby brother. Like his father and grandfather, Vince served in the US Army. He later joined the Air National Guard.

Vince married his beloved wife Lilian "Mae" Colpitts on Valentine's Day in 1953. They moved from upstate NY to Southern California in the late 1950s to join his sisters and brother-in-laws, and of course the Brooklyn Dodgers. Vince was a life long Dodger fan. Whenever the LA Dodgers were playing you would find him with a transistor radio listening to Vince Scully.

Vince and Mae had three children and many pets over the years. Their home was a place where family and friends would often congregated. Both Vince and Mae loved all of God’s creatures, especially dogs.

Vince was predeceased in death by his son Jason in 1971 and his beloved wife in 2000. He is survived by his son, Clayton, daughter Kathleen and son-in-law James.

Vince was a gentle man who loved his family deeply. He had a full and well-lived life surrounded by his immediate family, his sisters, brothers-in-laws and many nieces, nephews and throughout his life. He leaves us with wonderful memories and our hearts full of love and peace. He will be missed but not forgotten.
