William Morton Snedeker, born in 1934, passed away peacefully, joining his loved ones in heaven on October 30th, 2023. He is now reunited with Jesus, his beloved wife Marilyn, son Mark, sister Jeanette, Son-in-Law Frank and others who have gone before him.
Bill grew up in the Monrovia/Arcadia area of California. In 1951, he married the love of his life, Marilyn, and together they built a beautiful family. They were blessed with three children: Linda, Mark, and Scott.
Bill was a quiet (unless he was with family doing what people called “Snedekering”) and a wise man whose words carried profound wisdom. He was faithful to God, his family, and friends. A dedicated caretaker, he lovingly looked after his children, grandchildren, parents, and his wife. Even in his passing, he remained easygoing, embracing life with grace.
He held God first in his life, living out a belief in showing love and grace to others. Bill's key value was doing for others, a lesson he taught through his actions.
A lifelong Jesus-following Christian, Bill taught Sunday School and was an integral part of a long-running Bible study group where he brought some of the most insightful viewpoints of what we were studying.
Bill had a love for reading that knew no bounds. If it had writing on it, he would read it. Bill loved to read book ranging from mysteries and spy novels to crime novels. In retirement, he immersed himself in romance novels, yep Romance novels. He averaged over 500 books a year on his iPad.
He also enjoyed attending baseball games, starting with his children's games, and later cheering on local college teams. His other passion was food…. If we wanted him to go someplace, food was how we got him to go.
With a career spanning over 25 years, Bill worked for Shell Oil Company, beginning as a photographer in the Surveying Department and eventually leading the Computer Department. Alongside his wife, he opened the Travel Station in Danville, CA. Later, he worked as the Sales Manager for MacGregor Yachts for another 25+ years.
Bill is survived by his children Linda, and Scott, his daughter-in-law Christy, his daughter-in-law-Debbie, his grandchildren Curtiss, John, Sarah, Garrett, Karen, Frank Jr., Jimmy, and Billy, Jackie, Greg, Stephine, Heather, Wyatt along with 25 great-grandchildren and 15 great-great-grandchildren.
Bill's life was filled with memorable moments, from the challenges of young marriage to building a successful career, moving across the state, and working until the age of 75. His grace extended even to the end of his life.
Remembered as a smart, loving, humble, and grace-filled man, Bill's legacy is one of thankfulness and humor. His family cherishes the memories of his love and wisdom.
Bill found joy at the beach with Marilyn, relished people-watching anywhere, and made Sunday mornings special with breakfast at Champaigns at Crystal Court, a mall walk, and a visit to the cemetery with flowers for Marilyn.
Bill was grateful for the love and blessings showered upon him and his family throughout his life.
In honoring William Morton Snedeker's life, let us reflect on the love, wisdom, and grace he shared with all who knew him. He leaves behind a legacy of faith, family, service and a deep appreciation for the beauty of life. May he rest in eternal peace.
