

He was born in Milford, MA, the son of the late Albert and Jennie (Carini) Gritte. Albert enlisted in the United States Navy on February 9, 1944 as an electrician stationed aboard the USS Delta to serve in World War II. He was honorably discharged from the Navy on June 30, 1946. He went on to get his Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from Villanova University in 1952. After which, he worked for Firestone/OxyChem for 40 years, until his retirement in 1991. Albert married Grace (Kirkhoff) in 1955 and they were happily married for 58 years. He was an active parishioner and usher at St. Thomas Moore Catholic Church in Pottstown, PA. He enjoyed going to the beach to fly kites, dancing with the love of his life, helping her with sewing projects, tinkering, and his favorite of all, talking to anyone who would listen.
Albert is survived by two sons, Raymond L. Gritte, husband of Nita, and David J. Gritte, husband of Sheila, both of Corpus Christi, Texas, two grandsons, Christian R. and Jacob A. Gritte, and a sister, Jean Darling of Milford, MA.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, September 3, 2016 at 3:00 p.m. at Memory Gardens Funeral Home in Corpus Christi, TX. Interment will be the following Saturday September 10, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at Mt. Zion Cemetery, North Coventry Township, PA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Cancer Center at Pottstown Memorial Medical Center, 1600 East High Street, Pottstown, PA 19464.
