The best place to be ...is where you are.  So make the most of that place .  That quote he used to say and looked me in the eyes  and said to me once. That really made me stop and breathe in the moment of where  I was. Nowhere special, until I decide to make it special.  Then he said Sister, it's all going to be ok.   He had a way of being every ones freind, especially when he noticed something....sometimes that something even you didnt know you were wearing on the outside.  I didnt get to see him often, but when I did. There was always some kind of  quick loving advise. When no one else would notice. Some words of..hey you got this. Your doing a great job here.  It was always put in a way of joy and admiration. Funny thing was is i admired his ways and him. RiP  and dont ever stop giving those little words of encouragement.  I'll be listening. 

Albert was such a nice guy, I never heard anyone say anything negative about him 
I met him while working for the state back in 1993 he lived his son, he worked a part time job to meet his child support obligations and have extra money to  travel with him 
I was at his retirement party he was soo happy. This is so sad, I pray for his family

Although shocked to hear of Albert's unexpected passing, I can't be too sad because he was such a genuine  pleasurable light in the lives of his co-workers including me at HHSC. He was so effortlessly humorous, always willing to help out and was quite the gentleman. He always spoke so fondly of his son Chris and his parents.
Once, he spearheaded a tamale making party over beverages at a coworker's house...great taste but shaped quite strangely. Once, I had an asthma attack in the office while we worked for the State at Memorial Hospital. Albert asked if I was ok several times and then said, "Ms. Mayfield, I'm glad you got yourself together because had you not made it, I would have been forced to put you in a wheelchair, roll you out and throw you in front of the light rail so your children can get a lot of money from Metro. If you croak over down here, they'll only get pennies." I laughed so hard that I started coughing again. Another time, he offered another coworker, Mary (with whom he retired) and me a ride. He hurried to retrieve his car from the offsite parking lot, and being the gentleman he was, he picked us up at the curb. When he stopped, he jumped out to throw some things in the back, told us to jump and asked us to excuse his "little mess". Mary and I still laugh to this day about how nonchalant Albert was about the inside of his car being covered with white dog hairs, promising us that we were "safe"...he loved his dogs... and because we loved him, we took the ride.
Albert was so insistent about people enjoying life because we only live once, so to his farewell, I will say...Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming "Wow! What a Ride!” I don't know if this is how my friend skidded in, but I am so grateful that I met him along his ride. He will be remembered forever.

The last time we celebrated as a family in a large group at my house was pre Covid Holiday season. Both Alan's and my family were together.  Beto with his honest and frank true to life stories had every one in tears with laughter. My poor Mom was beside herself in pain from laughter. MOM Susanna,  also laughing and realizing some of these stories were new to her.  Asking when  did that happen. All Beto could say was " Mom, its ok. Its in the past. Laughing hugging and continueing his story telling. 
What a good heart & soul Beto was. 
We will always remeber. The Man, brother,  brother in law. Uncle, Godfather and freind he was. Now, in Heaven as our Spiritual Guide. Forever in our families heart. Never to be forgotten. 
Go with God Beto, Rest your soul. Rest in peace.

My condolences to your son Chris and your mom and dad and all your brothers and sister and all you family. We are with heavy hearts and in disbelief. But as they say god only takes the best. I will never forget when you received your bachelor’s degree. I was so proud of you because you were the first in our Garza Family to have graduated from a university with your bachelor’s degree.
