Born to Ynosencio and Sotera (Ybarra) Cardona on September 12, 1940 in Corpus Christi, Texas.
An Army veteran, Amado deeply loved his wife of 60 years, his family and his friends. After retiring from Garrett Construction, where he was a welder for 35 years, he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He would spend many hours listening to his favorite music while working on projects in his backyard, all the while being followed around by his beloved dog Bo.
Amado is predeceased by his parents and his sister: Amelia Guerra. Amado is survived by his wife, Elvira and their four children; Diana Garcia (Eluid), Mario Rene (Debra), Cynthia Cardona and Yolanda Longoria (Michael); his sisters, Janie Garcia and Rosa Cardona. Amado will be fondly remembered by his grandchildren; Bridget, Mario, Jr. (Linette), TJ (Alyssa), Adriana (Michael), Vicente, Robert, John and his great-grandchildren; Visanne, Leilani, Isaiah, Izabel, John David, Donovan, Trace, Aysen, and Braiden; as well as many Nieces and Nephews.
Family will begin receiving visitors at 12:00 PM on Saturday, January 2, 2021 at Memory Gardens Funeral Home, located at 8200 Old Brownsville Road. Recitation of the Holy Rosary will begin at 1:30 PM with a service to follow at 2:00 PM. Burial will be held at 3:00 PM at Memory Gardens Cemetery.
