

Amado was a truck driver for HEB for many years until his retirement in 1998. He cherished the time spent watching the Dallas Cowboys with his grandsons and also conversations with his sons about the details of the Cowboys games. He could pick up the phone, call his grandson, Marc and ask him the playing times of The Longhorns or The Cowboys and he was able to give his grandpa all the statistics and times of any team.
He is preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Pablo Mendez Sr., Seferino, Juan Sr., Pablo Sr., Maria Curiel and Adan Sr. Left behind to cherish his loving memory is his wife of 54 years, Lupe Ortiz Mendez; children, Rose Ann (Oscar) Puente Jr., Amado “JR” III (Gloria) Mendez, Jeannie (Bob) Seagraves and Arnold (Aurora) Mendez. He is also survived by grandchildren, Amanda and Krystal Ann Puente, Dianne Selena, Amado Joseph IV, Paul Michael, James Edward, John Richard, Victoria Marie, Marc Anthony, David Mathew, Nicole Dominique, Arnold Mathew, Ryan Anthony Mendez and Willy, Dakota and CoCo Seagraves.
As our Father and Grandfather although you cannot be here with us, we’re truly not apart, until the final breath we take, you will be living on in our hearts.
Pallbearers will be Amado Joseph IV, Paul Michael, James Edward, John Richard, Marc Anthony and David Mathew.
The family will be receiving friends at Funeraria del Angel Memorial Holly on Friday, February 28, 2014 from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm with a Holy Rosary to be recited at 7:00 pm that same evening. Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, March 1, 2014 at 1:00 pm at Christ the King Catholic Church with interment to follow at Rose Hill Memorial Park.
