Amalia Garcia

She worked as an x-ray film developer with Radiology Associates for 25 years. Amalia was a strong woman who found her strength in the Lord and it brought her great joy to be able to share her faith with others. She was a proud parishioner of Holy Family Catholic Church and was a member of the Charismatic Prayer Group and the Sociedades Guadalupanas. She was also a missionary for the Church and a Eucharistic minister for the homebound. She loved volunteering her time at Christus Spohn Memorial Hospital where she served for over 10 years providing comfort to the patients through prayer and the Eucharist. Amalia was as much devoted to her family as she was to her faith. To those who held a special place in her heart, she was known as Granny, which was a title she was most proud of.

She is now united in heaven with: her parents; her husband, Homero Garcia; her daughter Margot McCourt; her two sisters Maria C. Hernandez and Victoria C. DeLeon; her two brothers Silviano Curiel and Jose E. Curiel; son-in-law, Larry Running Turtle Salazar and many other loved ones.

Amalia leaves behind to cherish her memories: her children Nora (Gilbert) Garcia, Patsy Salazar, Mario (Sandy) Garcia, Mercy (Jesse) Mireles, Diana (David) Acosta and Lilly (Paul) Samaniego; her son-in-law Michael McCourt; 26 grandchildren; 29 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandson.

Visitation will be held at Memory Gardens Funeral Home on Thursday, June 18th at 5pm with a rosary to be recited at 7pm. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Saints Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church at 10 am on Friday June 19th. Entombment to follow at Memory Gardens Mausoleum.

Visitation will be held at Memory Gardens Funeral Home & Cemetery, 8200 Old Brownsville Road, Corpus Christi, Texas 78415, on June 18, 2026, from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm, with the Holy Rosary at 7:00 pm.

A Funeral Mass will take place at Ss Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church, 3210 S Padre Island Drive, Corpus Christi, Texas 78415, on June 19, 2026, at 10:00 am, followed by the Rite of Committal and Entombment at Memory Gardens Funeral Home & Cemetery, 8200 Old Brownsville Road, Corpus Christi, Texas 78415, at 11:00 am.
