Amalio Omar Garza Sr.

Amalio Omar Garza Sr., passed away on January 15, 2020 at the age of 73. He was born on June 26, 1946 in Laredo, Texas.

He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend to all. He proudly served his country in the United States Army for 6 years and went on to employment with the City of Corpus Christi for 40 years. He was an avid hunter and loved the outdoors. Amalio was a devout catholic and was an involved church member. He will be remembered for cherishing his time with his family and friends.

Amalio is preceded in death by his parents, Amalio G. and Emma Garcia Garza.

He leaves his loving memories to his beloved spouse of 48 beautiful years, Socorro Lina Garza; his children, Lina Maricela Williams (Douglas), Amalio Omar Garza Jr. (Christine), Alyssa Marie Arnold (Brett); grandchildren, Hunter Williams, Madison Williams, Amalio Omar Garza III, and another Garza grandchild on the way. He is also survived by his brothers, Mario Garza (Emma), Lauro Garza (Christina), Francisco Garza (Diana), and a host of extended family and friends.

Family will receive friends at Memory Gardens Funeral Home on Friday, January 24, 2020 from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a Holy Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of Perpetual Help on Saturday, January 25, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. with a committal service to follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery.

My condolences to the Garza Family. I grew up with Omar and his brothers, Mario, Frank and Lauro. We lived across each other's home. Have a lot of beautiful memories growing up. I got to see him on his last trip to Laredo. I will surely miss him. He is now with our Lord.
