

Andres Cruz Gomez of Corpus Christi TX passed on June 12, 2026 in San Antonio Methodist hospital surrounded by his family. Andres was born in Corpus Christi on November 23, 1951. The son of two hard-working parents, Andres Rafael Gomez and Otilia Mendez Gomez, who were part of the community of Latinos that helped shape the city of Corpus. He was a third generation master carpenter, who with his father and brothers, built many homes and buildings in Corpus some that still stand today. He met his wife Patricia dancing and they continued to do so for 48 years of marriage. Family was always of the utmost importance to Andres. He was dedicated to providing his family a beautiful, secure, and loving life and he instilled those values of hard work and familial devotion in all his children and grandchildren. Besides being a wonderful father, grandfather, and husband he was also a good person. He was a generous and caring friend willing to help anyone in need. He was a tremendous scholar of history, always sharing his wealth of interesting facts. He loved to laugh, listen to music, the thrill of a motorcycle, and the serenity of being on a boat in the gulf. His conversations were always joyfully full of stories of the old neighborhood and his children and grandchildren. He will be greatly missed and fondly remembered by all that had the privilege of knowing him.
Andres is preceded in death by his parents and his eldest sister Mary Gomez. He is survived by His beloved wife of 48 years, Patricia Alejandra Gomez. His 7 children and 10 grandchildren; Marissa (spouse; Alex Palmer), Andres Jr. (children; Andres III, Ayden, and Azaryas), Margie (children; Izabel and Elizabeth), Sarai, Victoria (children; Araceli and Derek), Patricia (spouse; Matt Vines and children; Ivan, Oliver and Adelina), Leticia and his siblings & compadre; brother Raphael Gomez, brother Roland Gomez, sister Rebecca Gomez, compadre Jesse Flores.
